JAKARTA (February 2nd, 2024) - After holding PENA Workshop in “Mulya Jaya” Center in Jakarta, the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) held the same workshop at "Handayani" Center in Jakarta. Hundreds of training participants seemed enthusiastic about taking part in each class.
Participants consisted of 176 Social Companions, 67 Beneficiary Family (KPM) Graduates, and 112 Beneficiaries of "Handayani" Center in Jakarta. PENA Workshop was aimed to strengthen the empowerment of KPM PENA Graduates and strengthen the capacity of social companions.
Six classes were divided by MoSA in the form of culinary, handicrafts, digital marketing, financial literacy, photography and videography, simple research, and product branding and packaging. The activity took place for two days from 1 to 2 February 2024 from 08.00 - 16.00 WIB.
The cooking class was attended by beneficiaries of the "Handayani" Center in Jakarta. Participants are taught to make various menus of cakes and heavy dishes with easy recipes, such as lapis legit cake, steamed Lapis Surabaya, rawon, chicken noodles, and soto. Participants seemed enthusiastic about practicing the menu they created step by step. Participants are also taught to arrange the dishes to make them attractive.
In the handicraft class, participants who are also beneficiaries of the "Handayani" Center in Jakarta are taught to make tissue boxes from cardboard which are then covered with banana peel. This training is a little different because it uses plants that are sometimes never used but can be used as a craft. The participants, who were mostly children who were beneficiaries and were accompanied by their parents/guardians, were also enthusiastic about making these crafts.
Meanwhile, KPM Graduation received training regarding opportunities to increase the selling value of KPM products, such as branding and attractive product packaging, utilizing social media to promote products. This is intended to encourage KPMs who already have businesses to dare to enter a wider market.
In the visual design class, participants can consult directly with experts on how to make their products/businesses more advanced.
Nurhayati (35), a resident from Tangerang, has been a KPM PKH since 2013. She has a stall business selling various fried foods, and snacks and making crackers which she sells from 07.00 to 18.00 WIB at home. Having an income of around IDR 300,000 per day, Nurhayati consults with the design team to make the product more attractive.
"Earlier I consulted regarding logos and food packaging to make them more attractive and presentable because up to now there haven't been any. "I also hope that my business will progress further and the profits will increase because the appearance is attractive," said Nurhayati.
Apart from training for KPM, there is also training for social assistants in the form of simple research and marketing, digital marketing, photography and videography, and financial literacy.
Dody Kusniady (45), TKSK from Jonggol District, Bogor Regency, admitted that this training was very useful for the assistants whose knowledge gained would later become provisions for providing assistance to KPM so that they could be motivated to become entrepreneurs independently or in groups. The material provided is assessed according to current business conditions.
