JAKARTA (November 10, 2022) - The peak of the Heroes' Day commemoration in 2022 was marked by the implementation of the National Pilgrimage Ceremony at the Kalibata Main National Heroes Cemetery (TMPNU). Vice President Ma'ruf Amin acted as the Ceremony Inspector.

The Vice President and Mrs. Wury Estu Handayani arrived at TMPNU Kalibata at around 08.07 a.m., and were welcomed by Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture Muhadjir Effendy and Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini. As a series of events, the Vice President led a moment of silence, followed by laying a wreath followed by a prayer.

To commemorate the battle of November 10, 1945 in Surabaya, the sound of sirens was played for one minute. Furthermore, Vice President Ma'ruf Amin accompanied by officials present carried out a flower sowing procession at the tombs of a number of heroes: BJ Habibie, Ainun Habibie, Ani Yudhoyono, Umar Wirahadikusuma, Taufiek Kiemas, Soedarmono and his wife, Adam Malik, and Heroes of the Revolution.

Heroes' Day in 2022 takes the theme "My Heroes My Role Models". The commemoration of Heroes' Day is intended to commemorate and honor the services and struggles of heroes in defending independence; strengthen national unity; and increase love and pride for the country.

The pilgrimage at TMPNU Kalibata is a National Pilgrimage Ceremony at the Kalibata Main National Heroes Cemetery (TMPNU), which is one of the main events in the series of Heroes' Day commemorations in 2022.

Another main event is the Flower Sowing Ceremony at sea led by Navy Chief of Staff Admiral Yudo Margono as the ceremony inspector. The ceremony was held today on the deck of KRI Semarang-594 which sailed to Damar Island from Kolinlamil Tanjung Priok Pier, Jakarta, with Lieutenant Colonel (PM) Almuhaimin S. as the Ceremony Commander. Another main event is the National Hero Title Awarding Ceremony at the State Palace.

Furthermore, the Minister of Social Affairs will give directions at the opening of the Strengthening Heroism Values event. The event was attended by 68 students and 34 teachers (from 34 provinces throughout Indonesia), as well as 200 students from DKI Jakarta located in the TMPNU Kalibata Convention Building.

Prior to the implementation of the National Pilgrimage Ceremony at TMPNU Kalibata, the Ministry of Social Affairs had started with community service activities. The community service was held for 2 days on November 8-9, 2022 by involving several elements of society such as Cikal Junior and Senior High School students, Students of the National Development University "Veteran" Jakarta, and also employees of the Ministry of Social Affairs.
