MAJALENGKA (March 20th, 2024) – Mrs. Rusih (58) had sold Lotek Kucur for 30 years to make ends meet. The Resident of Margamulya Hamlet Neighbourhood 01 Ward 04 of Pasir Village, Palasah Subdistrict, Majalengka Regency had prepared the food she sells. She boiled vegetables and made peanut sauce, the main ingredient for selling lotek.

Lotek was one of Sundanese food that could be easily found in some areas of Indonesia. Made from water spinach, sweet potato, and cassava leaves and smothered in peanut sauce, the food tasted unique. In 2022, Mrs. Rusih who was also a beneficiary of Family Hope Program (PKH) received Nusantara Economic Heroes (PENA) assistance from Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) which was aimed at developing the beneficiaries’ business and increasing their income. PENA assistance that she received was display case, cauldron, and other equipment for selling lotek.

Before using the display case, she only sold using a table in front of her house. The food didn’t look appetizing and messy. It even flew away when it got blown by the wind. After receiving assistance in the form of display case, the food looked neater, and cleaner and attracted customers.

On a day, Mrs. Rusih was usually able to sell 20 packages of lotek for IDR 5,000 per serving. She also sold fritters. Mrs. Rusih’s income was approximately IDR 100,000 to IDR 150,000 per day.

From the income from selling lotek, the profit was used to buy daily needs such as buying rice and paying the school tuition fee.

“From selling lotek, I can buy rice, and send my child to school. It’s better now, I’m happy,” Mrs. Rusih said.
