JAKARTA (July 21, 2022) - MoSA through Korpri and Handayani Center held a mass circumcision for children in Jakarta area near Handayani Center on Wednesday (21/7).

Secretary General of MoSA, Harry Hikmat in his statement said this event is one of a series of activities for National Children's Day (HAN) 2022 which falls on July 23.

"MoSA has the initiative to fill the HAN series by creating activities for children who need special protection," he said.

This activity, Harry continued, was planned as a form of support from MoSA for the momentum of the 2022 National Children's Day.

This mass circumcision was carried out by Korpri and Handayani Center to mark the start of HAN 2022 series of activities by MoSA.

The mass circumcision was attended by 50 participants from East Jakarta, West Jakarta, and North Jakarta.

"It turned out that the information we conveyed was welcomed by the public, it was recorded that there were 50 children who participated in a mass circumcision. Even though those who wanted circumcision were more than that, we had to limit it," said Harry in front of reporters who were present.

This is an effort by MoSA in providing access to health services for underprivileged communities.

"The participants who attended earlier were children from underprivileged families, which so far have been difficult for daily life. Some are scavengers, children from slum settlements," he said.

To be able to take part in mass circumcision, an assessment process was first carried out by Handayani Center. This is to ensure that assistance is right on target.

In addition to receiving free circumcision services, the children also received ATENSI (Social Rehabilitation Assistance) in the form of nutrition and clothing assistance worth IDR 300,000 for each child. The committee also facilitates transportation costs for children and their parents or companions who attend.

One of the parents, Nita Soradita Sitompul, expressed her gratitude to MoSA for the mass circumcision activity and also the assistance provided.

"Thank God, this activity is very useful, especially for me because I have two children. I am happy because I have been helped," said the mother of two children who are usually called Nita.

In line with Nita, Mrs. Dawit, who was also present to accompany her son, also expressed her joy for this event.

"This activity is very useful and helpful, especially for the less fortunate. At the clinic, you pay six hundred thousand rupiahs. Moreover, other assistance and transportation are also provided, " she said.

Meanwhile, this circumcision activity brought a team of doctors from the Thamrin Hospital and the Ministry of Social Affairs’ Polyclinic. Circumcision is performed using a laser method to minimize pain.

"When the injections hurt a little, it felt like I was bitten by an ant," said Adhitiya Muhamad Rizki, one of the children who were circumcised.

To increase the comfort of the children, the committee provides a digital reading corner (Pocadi) which is equipped with reading books and children's toys. With a comfortable layout, they can play while waiting for their turn to be circumcised.
