Distributing Assistance, MoSA Encourages Economic Independence for Persons with Disabilities
ACEH (13 December 2022) - Ardiansyah looks excited to try the three-wheeled motorbike he just got. He pushed aside the crutches that had been helping him walk. Slowly he moved to the motorbike seat that he had long dreamed of.
For a moment he stroked some parts of the motor. This man of two children can now breathe a sigh of relief. His dream of owning a grocery business has finally come true. The three-wheeled motorbike he obtained from the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) through the Aceh Darussa'adah Center will be used to sell merchandise.
"Thank God I got a three-wheeled motorbike. God willing, I can sell merchandise to fulfill my family's needs," said this 36-year-old man.
Not only Ardiansyah, but his wife Zahara (35) also received assistance in the form of prosthetic hands. Both of them were recipients of Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) who were present at the Hall of Darussa'adah Center to receive practical tools for Persons with Disabilities on Sunday (11/12). The practical tools were distributed in the context of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities (HDI) and National Social Solidarity Day (HKSN).
Apart from Ardiansyah and Zahara, Darussa'adah Center also distributes ATENSI assistance to other persons with disabilities. The value of the assistance distributed was IDR 713 million, with details of nutrition and personal hygiene packages for 73 people, prostheses for 52 people, adaptive sticks for 31 people, hearing aids for 12 people, and 6 units of three-wheeled motorbikes.
Head of the Darussa'adah Center, Susi Mulyati said MoSA used the HDI and HKSN momentum to improve the standard of living of persons with disabilities, especially by creating an inclusive and accessible environment.
“As the MoSA’s Technical Implementation Unit in Aceh, we are committed to providing access for persons with disabilities, one of which is through the provision of these tools. Apart from that, we also provide business assistance to boost their productivity, such as providing three-wheeled motorbikes for businesses," she said.
On the same occasion, the Social Rehabilitation Division Head of Aceh Social Office, Isnandar appreciated the MoSA’s steps in providing practical tools for persons with disabilities. He hopes that the MoSA through Darussa'adah Center along with Aceh Social Office continues to partner in overcoming social problems and empowerment.
"Thank you to the Ministry of Social Affairs for providing practical tools to persons with disabilities in Aceh. I hope, in the future, the social office and the Ministry of Social Affairs through the Aceh Darussa'adah Center will have better cooperation in handling social problems," he said while giving his speech.
