Finalizing Preparations, MOSA Holds First Plenary Meeting Ahead of Heroes' Day Commemoration

JAKARTA (2 November 2021) - The Ministry of Social Affairs held its first online and offline plenary meeting. The meeting chaired by the Director General of Social Empowerment Edi Suharto was held to hear reports from those in charge ahead of Heroes' Day 2021.

Previously, the series of Heroes Day activities had started with various activities. Among them are the National Heroic Scientific Work Contest and the Heroic Service at the North Kalibata National Heroes Cemetery (TMPNU). 

In the introductory session of the plenary meeting, the Director General of Social Empowerment expressed his appreciation to all parties involved in organizing the ongoing series of Heroes' Day activities. Appreciation was also conveyed to partners who collaborated with the Ministry of Social Affairs.

"I appreciate several Heroes' Day activities that have been held in 2021, such as the National Heroic Scientific Work Competition and Heroic Service," said Edi Suharto at the Aneka Bhakti Building of the Indonesian Ministry of Social Affairs, Monday (1/11).

Edi was proud because the activity also involved the participation of the younger generation who would later lead this country in a better direction.

Edi hoped that the spirit and values ​​of heroism could be an inspiration to take real action in real life in line with the theme of Heroes' Day 2021 "My Hero is My Inspiration".

At today's meeting, the meeting chairperson listened to reports from each field. Chairwoman of the Central Committee for the Commemoration of Heroes' Day 2021, Murhardjani, stated that a series of Hero's Day activities were carried out simultaneously at the capital city , regions and abroad.

"The series of central events that will be held in the future include a national pilgrimage ceremony, a flower sowing ceremony at sea, awarding the title of national hero, moment in silence, flag ceremony, raising the red and white flag and strengthening the value of heroism to students," said Murhardjani who is also the Director of Heroism, Pioneering, Solidarity and Social Restoration (K2KRS).

The implementation of Hero's Day is carried out during the Covid-19 pandemic complying with health protocols.

"Heroes' Day Commemoration activities for regions both at the Provincial and Regency/City levels adjust to the implementation at the Capital while for Indonesian representatives abroad, the Heroes' Day commemoration event is adapted to local situations and conditions, and still pays attention to health protocols," he said.

On the same occasion, Director General Edi also listened to reports from the person in charge of various fields including Division 2 which was led by the Director of Social, Individual, Family, and Community Institutional Empowerment (PSPKKM) Serimika BR Karo. She reported on an activity plan aimed at strengthening the value of heroism to students from 14 to 17 November  2021.

"We will invite representatives of high school students in 34 provinces as well as students in Jakarta, Tangerang and Bekasi, along with their teachers," said Serimika.

Further, Field 3 related to publications under the leadership of the Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Hasim also submitted a report. He explained the readiness of the Public Relations Bureau in providing support for the publication of these national-scale activities.

Publication support has been running since the previous days, such as mediating a series of activities for the 2021 Heroes' Day. For example, community service activities at TMPNU Kalibata.
