Improving Rehab Social Services Quality, Social Minister Encourages Government Synergy

JAKARTA (March 11, 2020) - Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P. Batubara encourages Regional Governments (Pemda) to synergize with the Central Government to improve the quality of social rehabilitation services. This was revealed at the opening of the 2020 National Coordination Meeting (Rakornas) Social Rehabilitation Program at the Harris Vertue Hotel, Wednesday.
"This year the Ministry of Social Affairs is committed to improving the quality of services (social rehabilitation), both in terms of physical aspects (facilities) and Human Resources (HR)," explained Minister.
The Minister explained that the effort to improve the quality of the service would be through training, mastery of technology, quality improvement program, and updating various integrated modules.
"For that I ask the regional governments could be in line with us (central)," said the Minister.
The Rakornas Social Rehabilitation Program, he continued, were held to increase the synergy of both the Central and Regional Government in organizing social rehabilitation programs in 2020.
" I hope that through this forum rehabilitation efforts as well as social symptoms that appear in each region can be renewed. Also learn from one another about behavioral and cultural changes and technological developments that are useful for developing improvements to social rehabilitation programs," continued the Minister who is familiarly called Ari.
The Ministry of Social Affairs through the Directorate of Social Rehabilitation has compiled the approach of the 5.0 New Platform (PROGRESS 5.0-NP) Social Rehabilitation Program in providing social services to 5 (five) clusters, namely the Children cluster; Disability; Victims of Human Trafficking; victims of narcotics, psychotropic, and addictive substances abuse (NAPZA); and Elderly implemented in the Ministry of Social Affairs' rehabilitation center.
In PROGRESS 5.0 NP there are services fulfilling the right to decent living and strengthening accessibility to services. In addition, physical therapy, psychosocial, mental spiritual and livelihood therapy.
"Implementation of Progress 5.0 NP needs to pay attention to the readiness of facilities and infrastructure as well as the ability of human resources," he explained.
For this reason, both the central and regional governments need to prepare a commitment to improve the quality of the program and budget preparation.
"God willing, we will definitely succeed. And hopefully our work programs will run well and be useful for the beneficiaries in each region." concluded the Minister of Social Affairs
Director General of Social Rehabilitation Harry Hikmat said that the Rakornas which was held on 10--13 March 2020 was attended by 738 people consisting of participants from the central and regional government, and participants of the Community Welfare Institution (LKS).
"By bringing together the Central and Regional levels in the Rakornas, it is hoped that a formulation of commitment and joint action plan to accelerate the implementation of a social rehabilitation program in 2020 will be accountable and performance," said Harry.
Present at the opening ceremony were Director General of Social Rehabilitation Harry Hikmat, Director General of Social Protection and Security Pepen Nazaruddin, Director General of Social Empowerment Edi Suharto, Echelon II Officials and Head of Regional Office within the Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation, and representatives of Provincial and District / City Social Services.
