TANGERANG (March 27th, 2024) – The Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) distributed assistance to Social Welfare Service for Persons in Need (PPKS) in Banten Province. MoSA together with Commission VIII DPR RI handed over assistance worth IDR 110.5 billion. This moment coincided with the Specific Working Visit of Commission VIII DPR RI during the 2024 IV Session Recess at Tangerang Regent's Hall, Tuesday (26/3).
"There are four MoSA’s programs which are also being implemented in Tangerang Regency, namely the Family Hope Program (PKH), Basic Food Program, Logistics Assistance and ATENSI for Disabilities. These four are currently being distributed as implemented throughout Indonesia," said the Acting Director of Children's Social Rehabilitation Nova Dwiyanto Suli.
In Tangerang Regency, the assistance distributed consisted of PKH assistance worth IDR 34,324,503,232 for 69,983 Beneficiary Families (KPM), Basic Food Program stages I to III worth IDR 75,440,200,000 for 251,343 KPM, and Logistics Assistance worth IDR 747,063,000.
"Specifically, ATENSI assistance is provided in the form of tools and business capital development assistance, according to the results of the officer's assessment of the person concerned," said Nova.
Apart from meeting basic needs, the aim of providing assistance from MoSA is to empower vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and disabled. This is intended to encourage PPKS to remain productive, while simultaneously alleviating poverty in Indonesia.
The economic sustainability scheme for PPKS received support from Commission VIII DPR RI as a partner of MoSA. "We see that MoSA has a very important role that helps solve problems and reduce extreme poverty in Indonesia. I hope that the amount of assistance from MoSA for Tangerang Regency will also be followed up by empowering community potential," said Deputy Chairman of Commission VIII DPR RI Tb. Ace Hasan Syadzily.
In line with Ace's statement, data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) shows that the poverty rate in Tangerang Regency decreases from 9.2 percent to 6.9 percent. Commission VIII DPR RI emphasized that updating data on aid recipients has to continue so that the aid provided to the community is right on target. This, indeed, requires synergy between central and regional governments.
Dealing with his expectation for the future, Ace said that assistance that fulfills basic needs can be used as well as possible. Meanwhile, empowerment-based assistance can explore the community's potential and encourage their economic recovery. "In this way, there is continuity in meeting the economic needs of the community itself," he added.
Bambang Setyono (67), one of the recipients of ATENSI assistance in the form of hearing aids, admitted that he was happy with the assistance he received. With the help of the tool, Bambang, who works as a house builder every day, hopes that his hearing will improve so that he can return to work optimally to support his family.
"Now, my sense of hearing has returned. This tool really supports me in my daily activities," said Bambang.
