MOJOKERTO (December 30th, 2023) - The Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) paid special attention to people who were on the poverty line. This attention was realized in the form of social service held in the Balong Cangkring area, Mojokerto City, East Java.

The social service program, which was initiated by Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, collaborated with East Java Mojopahait Foundation which had been assisting Balong Cangkring community. Previously, this area was known as a prostitution area.

Director General of Social Rehabilitation Pepen Nazaruddin said social services provided basic health services for people with physical, eye and ear health. The event was attended by 1,501 people consisting of 926 children and 575 adults.

"This activity is an initiative of the Minister of Social Affairs and collaborates with the East Java Mojopahit Foundation. From various similar activities, I saw that this time there were the most participants," said Pepen, Friday (29/12).

Pepen also added that these activities would continue. This was based on suggestions coming from public who want services for the elderly and house renovations to continue.

Resident of Balong Cangkring 2, Sukiat (68), who had just received free glasses, expressed her gratitude for the assistance from the Minister. "Thank God, I got eye examinations for free and glasses from Minister of Social Affairs, Mrs. Risma. I'm grateful," said her.

She said that many residents took part in this free health check. Apart from that, there was also nutritional assistance for children. She hoped that there would be basic food assistance for residents who need it, including help with house renovations considering that many houses were uninhabitable in her area.

This series of social service activities were also supported by the Government of Mojokerto City. The health workers involved came from the Health Service and Regional Hospital of Mojokerto City.

This social service activity also collaborated with the Indonesian Optometric Professional Association for eye refraction and Kasoem examinations.

In this social service, 926 packages of Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) were also provided from the Directorate of Child Social Rehabilitation with each package worth IDR 400,000 with a total assistance value of IDR 370,000,000.
