GIANYAR (March 27th, 2024) – Currently, Kusamba Spa Salt is a beauty product that is quite popular and is starting to perform in the international market. Initially, the spa salt, which came from Kusamba Village in Klungkung Regency, Bali, was only processed by the community as pure salt.
Because of Nusantara Economic Hero (PENA) Program of the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA), Kusamba Spa Salt is now upgraded and is used in top beauty spas. “I've been trying it for the last four months and it feels very comfortable on my body. There's no need to worry about using this product," said Risma, endorsing the KPM PENA product at Krisna Bali souvenir center, Tuesday (26/3).
Krisna Bali souvenir center, which was founded in 2007, is now the most complete and largest souvenir center in Southeast Asia, and has seven outlets in Bali. At Krisna souvenir center, Kusamba Spa Salt has also begun to be displayed and marketed in an effort to penetrate the international market.
Kusamba Spa Salt was originally processed traditionally. In 2022, MoSA collaborated with Sepuluh November Institute of Technology (ITS) Surabaya to build a tunnel system in Kusamba Village which was managed by Sarining Segara salt farmer group, which had 17 members. This tunnel system made salt production more efficient and could increase the quality and quantity of salt produced.
The quality of Kusamba Salt continued to be improved through empowerment training from MoSA in the form of spa salt processing for 17 groups of salt farmers. The training took place in December 2023. Besides training, MoSA also provided assistance in the form of a spa salt processing machine, a spa salt production house measuring 5 meters x 6 meters, as well as assistance in processing Kusamba Salt Spa business permit.
To help market these products to a wider audience, MoSA is collaborating with Krisna Bali souvenir center. Krisna Bali is part of Krisna Holding Company which is owned by Gusti Ngurah Anom or better known as Ajik Krisna.
“As long as I am given the chance to live, I will continue to help society. And this is one example of me helping the government to empower the community," said Ajik Krisna in front of the Minister at the launch of the product at his outlet.
