MoSA Accompany the Children and Family of a Mother Who’s Dead While Hugging Her Baby
PATI (July 8, 2023) –Viral in
media, a mother died while hugging her baby in her house In Kutoarjo, Pati
Regency, Central Java. The late mother named Budiati left 3 kids, a baby and
toddlers.
The three
kids aged 4 years, 2 years, and the youngest aged 26 days are found weak and
dehydrated. Related to this case, Ministry of Social Affairs responded fast. At
present, the three kids left by late Budiati are under the care of Ministry of
Social Affairs’ Margo Laras Center in Pati.
As a form
of social protection and children's rights fulfillment, Ministry of Social
Affairs gives trauma healing and Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) for
the kids.
“Under
Minister of Social Affairs’ direction, we immediately respond to the kids’
needs. We give trauma healing, basic needs assistance of nutrition, kids toys,
and health check-up for them,” a social worker of Margo Laras Center in Pati,
Feni Handaningrum said.
Since the case surfaced, Ministry of Social
Affairs has taken a step to give intensive treatment. Ministry of Social
Affairs has given accompaniment while the kids are given medical treatment at
the hospital. The Ministry also distributes assistance of basic food,
nutrition, educational toys, and baby stuff.
Trauma healing service given by Ministry of
Social Affairs’ staff gives encouraging results. Previously, the first and the
second child looked gloomy and were reluctant to speak when they were visited
by the staff. After the Ministry gave them toys and psychosocial
accompaniment, their mood became happier and they were willing to communicate.
Parenting education for kids was also given to
the kids’ grandfather, grandmother, and also uncle. The kids will get
protection and good parenting from the closest family such as the grandfather,
grandmother, and uncle. This is important for the kids in order to grow well
and safety guaranteed.
“Because the family is with the kids all the
time, so we give parenting education to them. Family is the best parenting,” Feni said.
Ministry of Social Affairs kept on accompanying
while assessing comprehensively the needs of the family who would take care of
the three kids.
According to assessment result, Ministry of Social Affairs distributed entrepreneurial assistance to the kids’ grandmother. The Ministry distributed various equipment and ingredients worth IDR 3.783.000 to support Gethuk business which has been run by the grandmother previously.
Ministry of Social Affairs
would give accompaniment to the kids and families taking care of them. The
purpose of the accompaniment is to ensure the kids grow well, and the family
has a stable social and economic condition.
