JAKARTA (October 13th, 2019) - There was something interesting at the Car Free Day arena this morning. 20 Finalists of 2019 ASEAN-Indonesia Young Ambassador (DMAI), as well as a pickup truck with a blue ornament that said “anti-confusion” was present around Jalan Sudirman, Jakarta.

The presence of the DMAI Finalists and Anti-Confusion Car in the middle of the community this morning is a series in the selection of ASEAN-Indonesia Young Ambassadors, out of 1038 registrants, 20 best finalists left from all over  Indonesia.

"This activity is a form of synergy between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Social Affairs and our efforts to continue to educate, publish, deliver various important agendas from ASEAN," said Secretary General of the Ministry of Social Affairs Hartono Laras in Jakarta, Sunday (10/13).

Furthermore, Hartono said, Indonesia also has an important and strategic role in ASEAN, especially in the socio-cultural pillar.

"Indonesia will also become the chairman of ASEAN in 2023, so it needs community support to make it successful," explained Hartono.

Meanwhile on the same occasion, the Director of ASEAN Socio-Cultural Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Riaz Saehu, said that the selection of 2019 ASEAN-Indonesia Youth Ambassador (DMAI) was a form of efforts to mainstream Southeast Asian multilateral organizations in Indonesia young generation, in general, and the community.

"We expect the role of DMAI as a partner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to increase public awareness about ASEAN, whose numbers are still not encouraging," said Riaz.

In addition to increasing public awareness of ASEAN, in this activity, anti-confusion car is still present for people who have social problems. They can visit the anti-confusion car that are available during Car Free Day taking place today. Later, the community will be assisted by psychologists and social workers, who will listen to all social problems.

Also present on this occasion the Secretary of Education, Research and Social Counseling Agency, Head of Social Counseling Center Hasyim, Head of Planning Bureau at the Ministry of Social Affairs Adhy Karyono, Director of Elderly Social Rehabilitation at the Ministry Social Affairs Andi Hanindito, and Director of Social Rehabilitation at the Ministry of Social Affairs Margo Wiyono.
