JAYAPURA (August 27, 2024) - Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini is building 72 habitable houses for Jayapura earthquake survivors in Papua. In addition to providing houses, Minister Risma will also provide economic empowerment assistance in the form of chickens, pigs, fish farming, and agriculture. "There are 72 houses for disaster victims that we then relocated because it was impossible to build in the previous place," explained the Special Advisor to the Minister of Social Affairs for Communication and Mass Media, Don Rozano Sigit Prakoeswa who received a special task from Risma, Monday (26/8).

 

A total of 72 houses have been built on land with a total area of ​​26,091 m2. In that area, various livestock, fisheries, and agricultural facilities will also be built to support economic activities and for daily consumption. In addition, the housing complex will also be equipped with clean water and drinking water treatment facilities powered by solar power.

 

Previously, Ministry of Social Affairs had collaborated with various universities in developing breakthroughs in providing more sophisticated assistance. Through the leadership of Tri Rismaharini, Ministry of Social Affairs has collaborated with the academic community to present sophisticated technology that effectively contributes to improving community welfare. One of the assistances provided in Jayapura, which on this occasion collaborated with the Telkom Surabaya Institute of Technology and the University of Indonesia in building solar panels for electricity needs and clean water processors and ready-to-drink water with reverse osmosis solar technology.

 

In addition, Minister of Social Affairs Risma collaborated with the Jayapura Diocese in data collection and the process of building the houses. The role of the diocese also includes supervision and assistance for empowerment activities carried out by recipients of housing assistance. "We from the diocese are tasked with accompanying them," said Hilarius Warsito, Chair of the Housing and Land Commission of the Jayapura Diocese.

 

"Initially when the disaster occurred, they took refuge at the bishop’s house," continued Warsito, saying that the bishop then told Minister of Social Affairs Risma about it.  Risma immediately followed up by providing housing assistance to the disaster victims. "I am grateful, Mrs. Risma is very close to us," concluded Warsito.

The house built by Ministry of Social Affairs is 6 x 6 meters in size and has a living room, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and a kitchen. The roof is made of metal and has brick walls and ceramic floors. The building materials used are quality materials consisting of threaded steel and river stone foundations which make them stronger than other conventional house buildings. It took five months to build the 72 houses. The location is in Koya Timur Village, Muara Tami District, Jayapura City.
