Minister of Social Affairs Reviews and Distributes Aid to Flood Victims in Kubu Raya Regency

KUBU RAYA (13 DECEMBER 2023) --- Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini inspected and assisted flood victims in Teluk Kapuas Village and Parit Baru Village, Sungai Raya District, Kubu Raya Regency, West Kalimantan on Wednesday (13/12).

During her working visit to Kubu Raya today, Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini wanted to ensure that the assistance provided by Ministry of Social Affairs was well received by the community.

Apart from that, Minister of Social Affairs wants to ensure that the flood victims have been handled well by staff, their health is maintained, and their needs have been properly met.

"How are you ladies, are you all healthy?" said Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini when she met the mothers and children whose houses were flooded and now the water is gradually receding.  "Thank God, you're healthy, ma'am..." said the flood victims almost simultaneously.  They also expressed their gratitude for the concern and visit of Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini to Sungai Raya District.

When the flood occurred starting November 29, 2023, causing around 1,481 houses to be submerged, Ministry of Social Affairs also provided some assistance.  The assistance provided included 80 mattresses, 1,220 ready-to-eat meals, 440 packages of ready-to-eat side dishes, 50 packages of kitchen utensils, 24 packages of children's clothing, 24 packages of children's equipment, 104 packages of adult clothing, 50 packages of children's clothing, 150 gas stoves.  as well as 50 boxes of pampers.

This assistance was added again Wednesday morning (13/12) in the form of 654 packages of necessities, 500 pieces of cleaning equipment, 18 boxes of Pampers, 10 boxes of sanitary napkins, 2 packages of water purifiers, 2 packages of solar cells, 200 blankets, 300 packages of toiletries, 200 towels, 20  5.5 kilogram gas cylinder, 500 adult clothes, 200 mukena, 200 koko clothes, 200 sarongs, 500 negligee, 500 sets of children's clothes, 100 children's toys and 100 children's food.  Apart from that, there were also 500 men's training clothes, 500 women's training clothes, as well as various other assistance.

Regarding the floods that often hit the area, Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini advised the Deputy Regent of Kuburaya, Sujiwo, who accompanied Minister of Social Affairs' working visit, to carry out dredging and create new water channels.  Apart from that, there is a reservoir so that water does not inundate residential areas.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Regent of Kubu Raya, Sujiwo, when met at the same place, said that he would deal with flooding according to the advice given by Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, namely by dredging channels and building water reservoirs.  The steps and policies of Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, proved to be effective when she was mayor of Surabaya, able to overcome the problem of flooding in the city of Surabaya.
