Minister of Social Affairs Hand Over an Award to the Pejuang Hati Foundation at the Liputan6 Awards
JAKARTA (October 28, 2022) – Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini along with Surya Citra Televisi (SCTV) Liputan6 Team visited Pejuang Hati Shelter Foundation in Senen, Central Jakarta. Social Affairs Minister Risma hand over Liputan6 Awards to the foundation in the ‘Humanity’ category.
The Liputan6 Awards are given to figures who dedicate their lives to the environment and others. These figures are Hery and Dyah Putri Ambarwati, managers of the Pejuang Hati Shelter Foundation, who have been volunteers since 2015 for children with chronic liver disorders.
In 2017, Hery and other volunteers opened a shelter for children with chronic liver disorders undergoing treatment in Jakarta, especially at Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.
During the visit, Social Affairs Minister Risma also brought a number of toys and dolls for the children who live in the shelter house. Social Affairs Minister Risma invites children to play and have a dialogue with their parents.
"They (the Rumah Satu Hati Foundation) are people who never get tired of accompanying them in the midst of ups and downs and in the midst of laughter and tears," said Social Minister Risma.
The existence of the foundation, which provides many benefits, is the background for the award with the ‘Humanity’ Category. At the same location, Hery said that the initiation of building this foundation was started because of his experience of meeting children with chronic liver disorders.
“I like social activities. That's why I saw what potential in me was to be able to help children. I thought I could become a volunteer, because at that time there were no volunteers and special foundations for liver disorders,” he said.
In addition to help providing a shelter with a capacity of 7 rooms, Hery and other volunteers were mobilized to looking for donors to help provide services such as daily meals and diapers for children while in the shelter.
The volunteers also look for the nearest temporary shelter if the place in full capacity.
The main task of Pejuang Hati volunteer is to socialize to the public about liver disorders in children aged 0-10 years. This disorder, continued Hery, is still scrace in Indonesian society, so that late handling can endanger children.
Hery appreciated the attention of Social Affairs Minister Risma in greeting the children at the shelter. Hery also hopes that the government's collaboration in paying attention to children with chronic liver disorders will be established.
In addition to being able to access health services in the regions, Hery hopes that the Ministry of Social Affairs can provide training and entrepreneurship assistance for parents of children who leave their jobs in the regions to focus on treating children in Jakarta.
"I hope that the training and entrepreneurship assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs can be an alternative for parents who have lost their jobs so that in Jakarta they can still earn a living for the medical needs of their children," he said.
Tamara, a mother of Maryam, who recently underwent a liver transplant, feels supported by the government. "We are happy, because the government is paying attention. This is support for us, so it is an encouragement for us to fight for the healing of our children," he said.
