Nunukan (3 November 2023) - A twinkle of happiness could be seen in the eyes of the children present in the hall of Francisco Yashinta Elementary School, South Nunukan, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan Friday (3/11).  They can't wait for the arrival of the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini after a visit the day before in Krayan District, Nunukan Regency, Thursday (2/11).

Social Affairs Minister Risma was touched to see most children left by their parents to earn a living as Indonesian Migrant Workers in the neighboring country, Sarawak, Malaysia.  "I was shocked, there are so many children who have to be left behind by their parents to earn a living," said Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini.

Even so, Minister of Social Affairs encouraged the children never to give up.  Social Affairs Minister Risma motivated them to excel both in academic and non-academic fields.

"You can't give up, no matter how difficult it is. Studying isn't just Mathematics, you can learn singing, music, vocals, karate, and so on. Pursue your achievements, until one day you will feel proud. Can you?"  said Minister Risma, who was greeted by answers from the children present.

Minister of Social Affairs advised children not to waste their parents' sacrifices.  The way to do this is to study seriously so that you succeed.  "Your parents are working for your future, so don't waste their sacrifices. Be successful children," she said, encouraging the children.

Interruptingly, 4th-grade elementary school student Francisco Yashinta expressed joy at the presence of Minister of Social Affairs in Nunukan.  "Thank you, Mom, for paying attention to us," she said.  Sela lives in a dormitory with her younger brother, Fano.  Sela said she missed her mother and saw a mother's figure in Social Affairs Minister Risma.  That's what made him hug Minister Risma tightly, full of longing.  No wonder, Minister of Social Affairs hugged him with emotion.

Not long after, the emotional atmosphere turned cheerful when Minister of Social Affairs invited the children to sing together.  "Come on, what do you want to sing?"  she asked.  Even though it started shyly, soon the songs "Disini Senang Disana Senang", and "Kalau Kau Suka Hati" were blaring in the hall.  Both Minister of Social Affairs, the children, and all the guests present sang enthusiastically.

On this occasion, Minister of Social Affairs also handed over assistance in the form of school uniforms, bags, and shoes to 299 children from the Santo Gabriel Foundation, Al-Anshori Tsanawiyah and Madrasah Aliyah (MA), Yashinta Foundation, Santa Maria Susteran Foundation, and Ruhama Orphanage.  Apart from that, three personal computers were also handed over to the Sinta Foundation.
