Minister of Social Affairs Provides Assistance for 3T Communities in Krayan
NUNUKAN (November 3, 2023) - Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini assisted communities in Disadvantaged, Frontier, and Outermost (3T) areas in Krayan, Nunukan Regency, North Kalimantan (Kaltara), Thursday (2/11). The assistance provided was in the form of school uniforms, computers, salt production equipment, and Solar Public Street Lighting (PJUTS).
The visit was carried out as an empowerment mission for communities in 3T areas, especially North Kalimantan, to support the education and welfare of the people there. Krayan itself is directly adjacent to Serawak, Malaysia.
Due to the difficult terrain of the location with mountainous contours and the unavailability of land access, when arriving in Tarakan on Thursday (2/11), the Minister of Social Affairs had to use a chartered pioneer aircraft with a capacity of 12 people from Juwata Tarakan Airport and a helicopter to reach several other sub-district areas, such as Krayan Induk, Central Krayan, and South Krayan.
One of the enthusiasm of the community was caught at Binuang Airport, Central Krayan District. The arrival of the Minister of Social Affairs in the hot afternoon was welcomed by school children, elementary and junior high school students, and the local community.
"Yesterday, we wanted to give something to the children, but we don't know the number (of children), the data is not yet available. So, this is only symbolic. Later I will give 3 computers for elementary school, 3 computers for junior high school," said the Minister.
Meanwhile, the Minister reminded the community to use the PJUTS that she gave. "We will help. Later, the sub-district head will negotiate with Mr. Dedi the use of PJUTS which utilizes sunlight. So, you don't need to use diesel or other energy, that's it, it can be used immediately," she explained.
Apart from Central Krayan, similar assistance was also provided to communities in South Krayan and Krayan Induk. In Krayan Induk, there was also a groundbreaking ceremony at SDN 007 Liang Butan.
After handing over the assistance, the Minister of Social Affairs took the time to go to the Indonesia - Malaysia Border. Towards evening, the Minister of Social Affairs tested the PJUTS directly to ensure that the lights were functioning and could illuminate the activities of the Krayan community well at night.
After Krayan, the Minister of Social Affairs also visited Nunukan Island and Sebatik Island, on Friday (3/11), to hand over similar assistance for people in 3T areas.
