BANDUNG (5 September 2020) - Through the Social Safety Net Program (JPS) and the National Economic Recovery Program (PEN), the government ensures that people affected by the pandemic receive assistance.
In implementing these strategic programs, the government needs all parties' support, including the Government, the Business World, and civil society, including the Regional Coordinator (KORDA).
"The participants of the capacity building activity this time are tasked with ensuring that the Ministry of Social Affairs programs run well. I advise that Korda must ensure that the Sembako Program adheres to the 6 principles, namely Right on Target, Right Amount, Right Time, Right Price, Right Quality, and Right Administration, "said Social Minister Juliari P Batubara after closing the Korda Capacity Strengthening activity, Bandung Regency (5/9).
Social Minister emphasized that Korda apart from having the main task of overseeing the implementation of the poverty handling program, were also expected to support the smooth implementation of other social assistance programs in the regions.
"They handle and solve various problems in the field. Starting from ensuring E-Warong services, quality of goods, supply of goods. Dealing with cards that are damaged, malfunctioning, and have insufficient balance, etc. This is a difficult job because we have 20 million beneficiaries in total, "he said.
With the JPS program, the Ministry of Social Affairs has implemented Regular Social Assistance Program in the form of (1) the expansion of the Sembako Program from 15.2 million beneficiaries to 20 million beneficiaries for a year, (2) the expansion of the Family Hope Program (PKH) from 9.2 million beneficiaries to 10 million beneficiaries.
Then there is also the Covid-19 Handling Social Assistance Program in the form of (1) Cash Social Aid (BST) for 9 Million beneficiaries, (2) Non-PKH Sembako Card Cash Aid for 9 Million beneficiaries, (3) Presidential Aid in the form of Sembako in Jabodetabek, and (4) Rice Social Aid for 10 Million KPM beneficiaries.
The Director General of the Poverty Handling Asep Sasa Purnama stated that in 2020 the Sembako Program would expand the types of commodities apart from rice and eggs.
"This is an effort by the government to provide access for beneficiaries to staple foods with other nutritional contents. The Sembako Program is expected to accelerate poverty reduction and reduce the burden on beneficiaries’ household expenses to fulfil the basic needs of the poor," said Asep.
The addition of the commodities is expected to improve community nutrition, especially from an early age, so that it would reduce stunting cases in Indonesia.
Synergy and understanding between parties as well as a strong human resource character are needed to succeed the Sembako Program. With this activity, 153 facilitators here are expected to be better prepared, "he said.
