Minister Risma Hands over 36 Units of Row House to Klungkung Residents

Klungkung (23 October 2023) --The Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, officially handed over a total of 36 row house units to Beneficiary Families (KPM).   This house was constructed on land owned by the Bali Provincial Government, situated in Sulang Village, Dawan District, Klungkung.

The house is constructed in a row model, meaning it is part of a residential complex where multiple units are attached.  "Initially, the regent said it was for flats. But I said I couldn't help with flats. Finally, it was agreed on this row house," said Minister Risma when stating to the media on Monday (23/10).

Every unit has a building area of 36 m2 and a land area of 106 m2.  The house includes two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a toilet.   In addition to the house, the community will also benefit from free electricity and water.   The Minister pointed out the potential benefits of fee waivers in alleviating the burden on unprivileged society and facilitating their escape from poverty.   Thus, the Minister of Social Affairs expressed appreciation for the collaboration among the parties involved.

In addition, the Minister had a dialogue aimed at identifying entrepreneurial needs and potential.   The Minister proposed that individuals consider raising laying hens due to the potential for quick returns on investment.   The Minister of Social Affairs also encouraged the public to explore the tourism opportunities in Bali as a means to enhance welfare.  The Minister of Social Affairs expressed his commitment to supporting requests for entrepreneurship assistance from the community.

"In the future, the goal is for them to get out of poverty, not just to get a house. Because of that, I offered them several businesses that they can use for their lives," said the Minister.

Meanwhile, Klungkung Regent, I Wayan Suwirta expressed gratitude for the row house assistance provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs.   He mentioned that the recipients of row houses are individuals who currently lack sufficient housing.   He believes that the construction of row houses can serve as a successful example of poverty management.

"The assistance from the Minister regarding the procurement of houses for 36 families is extraordinary, and hopefully this can become a role model. Maybe it has been done in other places, but in Bali, I am sure this is the first," he said.

One of the recipients, Nyoman Sutini (65), expressed her joy at being able to receive the row house.   The idea is for her to reside in a residence with her spouse.   Currently, Sutini is patiently anticipating a favorable day.   Based on Balinese beliefs, it is important to choose a mature ayu or auspicious day for moving house to prevent any disturbances when settling into the new home.

Previously, Sutini lived in the house she shared with her family. "It's comfortable here; it's nice. If you have lots of grandchildren at home, eight people live in one hut," she explained.

Also present at the inauguration ceremony were the Assistant for Government and People's Welfare of the Regional Secretariat of Bali Province, I Dewa Gede Mahendra Putra; Chairman of the Klungkung DPRD Anak Agung Gde Anom; all elements of the Klungkung Regency, Muspida; and representatives of PLN and PDAM.
