JAKARTA (July 29, 2020) - The Ministry of Social Affairs has accelerated the distribution of basic food assistance from the President to residents affected by COVID-19, one of which is by collaborating with a community organization (ormas), Pemuda Pancasila (PP).

"In carrying out state duties, the government cannot work alone but needs to collaborate with mass organizations such as PP, especially in the midst of COVID-19," said Social Affairs Minister Juliari P Batubara while symbolically distributing 2,856 packages of basic food assistance from the President to the PP Branch Leadership Council. Jabodetabek in Jakarta, Wednesday (29/7/2020).

One of the main tasks and functions, said Juliari, is the Ministry of Social Affairs, is to distribute food aid packages for people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

"We hope that with the distribution of the President's basic food packages as a starting point for a mutually beneficial partnership relationship, the most important thing is that there is data on the residents who are submitted and who receive the social assistance," said Juliari.

Through the President's food packages that are distributed, hopefully it will be useful for residents who receive and ease the burden of their daily needs.

"By cooperating with this PP organization, the distribution of basic food social assistance can reach the community more quickly and be used immediately and can ease their burden," hoped Juliari.

General Chairperson of the National Leadership Council (MPN) PP Japto Soerjo Soemano expressed his gratitude for the attention of the Government and the assistance of the President's basic food assistance which was distributed through PP organizations.

"This is an opportunity to help the community, we would like to thank the President and the Minister of Social Affairs for their attention and not about the amount of aid given," said Japto.

The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, many people have lost their jobs or been laid off, are unable to pay rent, and have difficulty meeting their daily needs.

"Not only poor people, but maybe employees are also affected by COVID-19 who need basic food assistance, including PP members throughout Indonesia," he said.

Present at the event, the Director General of Social Protection and Security, Pepen Nazarudin; Minister's Senior Advisor for Social Accessibility, Sonny W. Manalu; Special Staff of the Minister of Social Affairs, Erwin Tobing.

Also, the Minister of Social Affairs Expert, Kukuh Ariwibowo; MPN PP Secretary General, H Arif Rahman; Chairman of the Pancasila Student and Student Unit (Sapma) Pancasila Youth, Aulia Arief.
