JAKARTA (FEBRUARY 10, 2023) - The Ministry of Social Affairs continues to respond quickly to people who need help, one of them is Alvino. The 4-year-old boy has been paralyzed since 17 months ago after falling and injuring his tailbone.

Following up on the direction of Social Minister Tri Rismaharini, "Pangudi Luhur" Integrated Center in Bekasi moved quickly to assess, assist and fulfill the needs of residents of Kijang Kota Village, East Bintan District, Bintan Regency, Riau Islands.

"Alvino has now received treatment at the Bintan Regional Hospital, and we are currently waiting for the doctor's recommendation for further treatment," said Head of "Pangudi Luhur" Integrated Center in Bekasi I Ketut Supena (10/02).

The Ministry of Social Affairs provided various ATENSI Assistance for Alvino and his family in the form of a decubitus mattress for Alvino to safe his back based on the doctor's recommendation, personal hygiene needs and children's equipment, basic needs and nutrition, clothing assistance and room facilities.

The Ministry of Social Affairs also provided medical assistance to Alvino worth Rp1 million and helped pay off Alvino's sister's maternity at the midwife worth Rp800 thousand.

Alvino's father Nurdin (35) is a fisherman who has to go to sea for 1-2 months with an income of Rp1 million per month, while Alvino's mother Kristiana (32) is a housewife. She takes care of Alvino while his father seeks his fortune at sea.

In addition to ATENSI assistance for Alvino, the Ministry of Social Affairs also provided Entrepreneurship assistance for his family in the form of a coffee shop, grocery and fried sausages at Alvino's house which will be run by Alvino's uncle and Kristiana alternately during Alvino's treatment period at Bintan Hospital.

Through this assistance, it is hoped that Alvino can continue to undergo treatment until he is cured, and help provide livelihoods for Alvino's family through the entrepreneurial assistance of the stall provided.

"Hopefully Alvino will recover quickly and Mrs. Alvino's stall business can grow and be able to fulfill the needs of Alvino's family," said Ketut.

Alvino suffered from spinal cord trauma, which is a disorder of the spinal cord. Before experiencing paralysis, Alvino was really active and could do activities like other children. However, after falling in 2021, one week after the incident Alvino could not stand up and felt pain in the back of the body when moved. Alvino also felt weak in both legs and could not be moved.

Alvino is currently being treated at the Bintan Regency Regional General Hospital Child Care Room and has been undergoing treatment since January 30, 2023 with financing by the regional health insurance (Jamkesda) of Bintan Regency.
