Ministry of Social Affairs sends emergency logistical assistance to flood victims in Southeast Aceh

JAKARTA (November 16, 2023) - The Ministry of Social Affairs has sent the first phase of emergency logistical assistance for victims of flash floods in Southeast Aceh Regency. This assistance was sent from the Ministry of Social's logistics warehouse at the "Bahagia" Center in Medan to the Southeast Aceh District Social Service.

Supomo, Acting Head of the Public Relations Bureau of the Ministry of Social Affairs, said that the aid is expected to arrive at the disaster site on Thursday, November 16. "We have sent logistics from the warehouse in the "Bahagia" Center in Medan. Some aid has been sent this morning," Supomo said.

In more detail, Supomo explained that the assistance sent was in the form of 1,300 packages of ready-to-eat food, 1,000 packages of children's food, 300 packages of ready-to-eat side dishes, 100 rolled tents, and 50 units of portable family tents.

Supomo said, that since Wednesday (11/15), the public kitchen has been established and provides 1,700 rice packages per day. The Ministry of Social Affairs has also deployed Disaster Preparedness Cadets (Tagana) and Sub-district Social Welfare Workers (TKSK) to carry out evacuations and rapid assessments together with other parties.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Social Affairs team from the Directorate of Social Protection for Victims of Natural Disasters (PSKBA) has also been at the location.
