TABANAN (19 December 2022) - Indonesia Sees, Indonesia Hears and Indonesia Steps programs continue to be realized, one of which is in the Province of Bali.  Under the direction of Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, this program is a concrete form of fulfilling the rights of persons with disabilities.

A total of 256 persons with disabilities in Bali Province have received accessibility aid.  Assistance worth a total of IDR 742,490,000 was symbolically handed over by the Head of the "Mahatmiya" Center in Tabanan, Bali, Sumarno R. Wibowo together with a member of Commission VIII of the House of Representatives, IGN Kesuma Kelakan, Saturday (17/12) at "Mahatmiya" Center in Tabanan, Bali as a technical unit of Ministry of Social Affairs.

"Yes, the delivery of this assistance is part of the series of National Social Solidarity Day (HKSN) events as well. This is part of Ministry of Social programs to realize the rights of persons with disabilities," said Sumarno.

Indonesia Hearing Assistance Program consists of 34 hearing aid.  Meanwhile, the Indonesia Steps Program consists of 46 wheelchairs, 10 adaptive wheelchairs, 7 walkers, 5 crutches, 3 wheeled motorcycle, and 27 prostheses (false legs and arms).

Then, Indonesia Seeing Program consists of 17 beneficiaries for free cataract surgery and 107 adaptive sticks.  This assistance was handed over as part of the HKSN series, which will peak on December 20, 2022, in Klungkung Regency, Bali.

Sumarno added that the delivery of this assistance was also carried out door to door for beneficiaries who had difficulty attending "Mahatmiya" Center in Tabanan, Bali.  "A symbolic handover is given to those who are close and able to attend. If not, it will be sent to his house. Like now, we are going to Jembrana. There are 11 beneficiaries there. We will send them there," he said.

In line with that, IGN Kesuma Kelakan ensures that attention to vulnerable groups is a joint commitment between the government and the Indonesian Parliament.

"Indeed, this is a joint commitment. This is a priority in overcoming the problems of vulnerable groups, one of which is persons with disabilities. Both Ministry of Social Affairs and the House share information on findings in the field. We fulfill the rights of persons with disabilities," he said.

The Ministry of Social Affairs and the House also continue to ensure that assistance reaches people with disabilities in remote and hard-to-reach locations.

"This is the government's homework. We will continue to work on it. We will provide data and we will tackle it together," said Kelakan.

One person with disabilities, Anak Agung Gede Suryawan, has benefited from the Ministry of Social Affairs assistance.  This resident of Denbantas Village, Tabanan, Bali, has a new enthusiasm for organizing his life since receiving help with a prosthesis (prosthetic leg).

When met at the event location, he admitted that he planned to open a culinary business, after previously having stopped working in the tourism sector.  “I am very grateful for the extraordinary assistance and support from Ministry of Social Affairs.  "Through this assistance, I will be able to return to my activities well," he said.

For this former tourism transportation driver, assistance from Ministry of Social Affairs raised his enthusiasm to return to work and ward off the despair he had been feeling due to the loss of one of his legs due to diabetes.
