Jakarta, 22 December 2023 - In 2023, the Ministry of Social Affairs' Social Rehabilitation Assistance program, also known as ATENSI, achieved remarkable success by surpassing its target. Pepen Nazarudin, the Director General of Social Rehabilitation of MoSA, made this statement during a discussion with journalists at MoSA office in Jakarta on Thursday (21/12).

Pepen provided a thorough breakdown of the achievements for each category of recipient. In the case of individuals with disabilities, a significant number of 61,097 PwDs have been recipients of ATENSI. The count has exceeded the target of 51,200. In addition, the ATENSI program exceeded its targets across various demographics. The target for children was 33,400, but it successfully reached 43,400, surpassing expectations by 130%.  Similarly, the program aimed to reach 29,000 elderly individuals, but the actual number reached was 60,239, exceeding the target by an impressive 208%. The ATENSI program also made a significant impact on disaster and emergency victims, with a target of 20,000 individuals and a realization of 42,705, surpassing expectations by 214%. Additionally, the program included special literacy initiatives. The target is 55,000, and the actual number achieved is 56,050, surpassing the target by 110%.

The Directorate General of Social Rehabilitation (Rehsos) has a distinct approach to addressing social issues. According to Pepen, they focus on assessing each individual problem, which leads to a wide range of care and assistance. "The assistance provided at Rehsos is highly dependent on individual assessments, allowing for a flexible approach tailored to each specific case," he explained.

With a network of 31 ATENSI centers spread across Indonesia, the achievement is truly remarkable. Every center has its own designated area of coverage and is granted the authority to carry out the tasks and functions of MoSA at a local level. In addition, the achievement is closely tied to the unwavering dedication of Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini to directly assist those in need.

"The Minister's policy focuses on how assistance directly benefits people and reducing ceremonial activity to optimize the budget. As a result, the realization has exceeded its target," he explained.

One approach involves the removal of ceremonies commemorating International Disability Day and National Social Solidarity Day. Minister Risma allocated the budget originally intended for the ceremony to launch a widespread free cataract surgery program across Indonesia.

In addition, during the same conversation, Pepen also highlighted that MoSA has developed 12,588 practical tools for individuals with disabilities. Among the most recent additions are Grita and Gruwi. Pepen provided an update on the current situation of trafficking victims. In 2023, a total of 1,359 victims have been assisted by MoSA.
