JAKARTA (28 February 2023) - In line with the Direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, Mulya Jaya Center in Jakarta held vocational training for residents of Kampung Bedeng, Cempaka Putih, Central Jakarta. The residents learned to sew and were directed to produce sandals or hotel slippers.
Other than training the residents to master sewing skills, the Mulya Jaya Center also directed the residents' work to be marketed to hotels.
The process of mastering skills and producing work was then followed by commercialization, namely linking their work with consumers. "All these complete series are the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs. The goal is for the residents of Kampung Bedeng to have a prosperous life," said the Acting Head of the Administrative Subdivision, Latifah Ningrum, who represents the Head of Sentra Mulya Jaya Jakarta.
This effort was carried out by cooperating with the Kampung Bedeng residents’ cooperative, namely Koperasi Cempaka Sejahtera Berkemajuan (KCSB). In this training, the Mulya Jaya Center facilitated training for 21 participants of Kampung Bedeng residents.
"Following the direction of the Minister, we are not only focused on developing capabilities but also on empowering to generate economic value. Later, they will fulfill orders for hotel sandals up to 5,000 pairs within one month," said Latifah.
Through the Cooperative, residents of Kampung Bedeng have received orders for sandal products from 8 hotels in Jakarta. Latifah is optimistic that the quota of 5,000 pairs of sandals can be completed by residents of Kampung Bedeng within one month.
During the training, the residents looked enthusiastic about making hotel sandals patterns and other stages. The training involved instructors from Mulya Jaya Center in Jakarta.
Nisa, one of the participants, expressed her enthusiasm for participating in this training. "I am very happy to be able to take part in sewing lessons, so I know how to sew in the right way. Some hotels also directly order our products," she said.
MoSA hopes that such ability enables the residents to develop their businesses as well as increase the income of Kampung Bedeng residents.
