KUPANG (August 18, 2023) - The solemn atmosphere of the celebration of the 78th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia was felt to the East of Indonesia. This was reflected in the atmosphere of the commemoration of this historic day at Sentra Efata Kupang, East Nusa Tenggara, Thursday (17/8).

There is a different atmosphere from this year's Indonesian Independence Day celebration at Sentra Efata Kupang. In addition to the ceremony, in the Technical Implementation Unit (UPT) of the Ministry of Social Affairs, assistance was also provided for vulnerable citizens at the moment of independence.

The handover of assistance is in line with the instruction of Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini, that one of the meanings of independence is the widest possible access for all levels of Indonesian society. Quoting the Minister's statement, Head of Sentra Efata Kupang Radik Karsadiguna stated that independence means the availability of equal opportunities and opportunities for all elements of the nation.

"The state is obliged to provide the rights of citizens. The state provides facilities that must be accessible to all citizens. The elderly and people with disabilities are given their rights. Citizens who get illness must be able to access health facilities. There are children who cannot go to school, we help them to stay in the school," said the Minister of Social Affairs quoted by Radik.

The ceremony was followed by all the Staffs Center and the beneficiaries, and it led directly by the Head of Efata Center Kupang. The Efata Center delivered Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) including accessibility aid, entrepreneurship aid, and basic needs aid. The total aid is about Rp377 million.

The accessibility aid is in the form of three-wheeled motorcycle for 5 persons with disability, wheelchair for 30 persons, and smart stick for 5 persons with blind disability.

Besides the accessibility aid, there are entrepreneurship aid in form of kiosk for 3 beneficiaries and pig livestock for 8 beneficiaries. Efata Center also provides basic food aid for 74 beneficiaries including for veterans’ elderly and neglected elderly.

On the next chance, Radik said that the Independence Day becomes the important moment for MoSA especially for Efata Center to provide aid for people in need.

This aid distribution is one of the implementations in fulfilling the rights of vulnerable people in accessing the assistance and social justice.

Radik hoped that this Independence Day becomes the moment to improve the performance and services of Efata Center in realizing a more prosperous and social justice.
