TANGERANG (APRIL 19, 2023) - The state through Ministry of Social Affairs is committed to fulfilling the needs and rights of persons with disabilities.  Among the efforts made is to increase their accessibility.

At the direction of Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, Mulya Jaya Center handed over Social Rehabilitation Assistance (ATENSI) in the form of Hearing Aid and Adaptive Canes to 17 Social Welfare Service for Persons in Need (PPKS) in Surya Bahari Village, Pakuhaji District, Tangerang Regency, Banten Province.

The total assistance provided is IDR 28,862,000 for 2 persons with visual sensory disabilities and 15 persons with hearing disabilities.

"Minister Risma gives direction to continue to strive for accessibility for friends with disabilities is one of the things that has been realized by handing over accessibility aid to Tangerang Regency," said Adrianus Alla, Head of Jakarta Mulya Jaya Center.

In line with this, the Head of Social Rehabilitation Division of Tangerang Regency Social Office, Sapto, hopes that this effort will continue and strengthen the synergy between the central and regional governments.

"This is a very good and well-targeted program for providing assistance. We are very grateful and hope that this collaboration will continue. The benefits will be immediately felt by the recipients," said Sapto.

Siti, a person with a hearing disability who receives a hearing aid, feels that meeting these accessibility needs is felt.

"Thank you very much for the assistance from Ministry of Social Affairs. Thank God, this tool can help me hear again," said Siti.

Not only providing assistance, but Mulya Jaya Center Jakarta team also introduced how to install and use adaptive sticks, especially an introduction to the various features of adaptive sticks in the form of water sensors, fire sensors, smoke sensors, and distance sensors.

This tutorial is carried out so that they can adapt to using these tools to facilitate the daily activities of persons with disabilities.
