BULUKUMBA (2 May 2023) - A motorcycle accident in 2018 made Salma feel like she was living without hope.  This 41-year-old woman not only suffered a fracture in her right leg, and underwent long treatment.  Her husband who was with her, Hasbayanto, also experienced a bend in his right hand.

Her suffering deepened because she had to lose her job.  The long treatment forced Salma's position as an administrative officer at the Salassae Health Center, Bulukumba District, Bulukumba Regency, to be replaced by someone else.

Fortunately, the couple's good relationship with the community health center leadership is still maintained.  Salma asked the Head of the Salassae Community Health Center to be given a place to sell in the community health center complex to make a living.

Since then, Salma started a business selling various fried foods and meatballs in a small canteen at the community health center with a turnover of IDR 100 - 200 thousand/day.  This income is quite small considering that Salma has to support her two children and her parents.

At the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, the Head of the Pangurangi Center at Takallar Nur Alam sent a team to conduct a comprehensive assessment of Salma and her family covering her physical, psychological, social, and economic conditions.  The team identified the market potential for the meatball culinary business managed by residents of Batu Tujua Hamlet, Salassae Village, Bulukumba District, Bulukumba Regency.

"Based on the results of the assessment and analysis, as well as following up on the directives of the Minister, the Pangurangi Center in Takalar assisted with a 3-wheeled motorcycle. The motorbike was used by Hasbayanto to sell meatballs around the village," said Nur Alam (2/5).

Assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs has had a big impact on Salma's businesses.  This mother of two children was able to increase the turnover of her meatball businesses to a total of IDR 800 thousand/day, or an increase of 400%.  This result is a combination of the meatball businesses in the community health center canteen and the husband's mobile meatball businesses using a 3-wheeled motorcycle.

With the assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs, Salma never ceases to express gratitude.  She expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Social Affairs because by riding a 3-wheeled motorcycle her businesses had increased.  "Thank you for the assistance of the Ministry of Social Affairs.  "Thank God, our businesses continue to increase," she said.
