KARANGASEM (March 27, 2024) - Bali Island is known as a tourist area consisting of small islands around it. Karangasem is one of the regencies in Bali Province which is located in the easternmost part, approximately 76 km from the center of Denpasar City.

This regency is nicknamed the Pearl from the East which is expected to become a new growth area in Bali, one of which is in terms of small industries.

This effort is in line with the Ministry of Social Affairs' empowerment program through Pahlawan Ekonomi Nusantara (PENA) to build an entrepreneurial spirit and improve the entrepreneurial skills of poor families, vulnerable groups, remote groups, and/or disaster victims. Through this program, the Ministry of Social Affairs supports the growth of small industries in Bali and provides business opportunities for Beneficiary Families (KPM) so that they can be economically and socially independent.

The Ministry of Social Affairs provided community empowerment training in the form of making hotel slippers to 20 KPM PENA from Bukit, Karangasem and Tumbu Villages.

Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini on Tuesday (3/26) saw firsthand the process of making hotel slippers. The Minister said some of the hotel slipper results were neat but only less fast. Speed in production is important because it affects the income earned. However, the Minister of Social Affairs understands because this is the first day of training.

"Not only neat but also fast. The product is neat, it just needs the speed of the mothers and it can be trained continuously. If we produce little, we work slowly then our profits are also small, so we need to be faster in production," said the Minister.

Ni Wayan Seryani (40), one of the participants from Tumbu Village asked the Minister of Social Affairs Risma how to continue after the training. The Minister of Social Affairs said that she would help with marketing. "So moms don't have to think. I may not just train, later we will help you until you can produce and we will oversee the marketing," replied Social Affairs Minister Risma.

The Minister of Social Affairs also said that she would train financial management later if you have earned income so that it can be managed properly.
