JAKARTA (30 June 2022) - The Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) through the "Handayani" Center in Jakarta continues to assess the Social Welfare Services Recipients (PPKS) who will occupy Low-cost Apartment Buildings (Rusunawa) in the Bambu Apus Safe and Trauma Center (RPTC) House, Jakarta East.

MoSA carried this program as a form of protection and fulfillment of the basic needs of PPKS by creating a better place to live, as well as a living environment.

The build of Rusunawa, which was initiated by the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, is intended for PPKS, including scavengers, homeless people, beggars, cart people, abandoned elderly, and other social problems, who meet the criteria, such as having a family, but not having a place to live, have an income and can pay rent with a certain amount, and has been included in the Integrated Social Welfare Data (DTKS).

In collaboration with the Nara Creative Social Welfare Institution (LKS), the Sentra Handayani Assessment Team met PPKS to invite them to live in the Rusunawa provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs. MoSA hopes that the PPKS can have socially appropriate and prosperous housing.

Muhammad Yahya (25) known as Aceng, for example, is one of the PPKS who will be occupying this Rusunawa. Aceng currently works as a scavenger and lives in a rented house that he recently occupied with his wife and his two children for four days with a rental fee of IDR 400,000/month.

When met by the Sentra Handayani team, Aceng said that he wanted to occupy Rusunawa. "I am very interested in living in a flat to reduce the burden, currently I live in this area too, but the rent is expensive," he said.

Aceng, who earns between IDR 150,000 - IDR 350,000/month, hopes to immediately move into Rusunawa owned by the Ministry of Social Affairs so that he can reduce expenses in terms of renting a place to live with his wife and children.

Rusunawa has adequate infrastructure, such as a parking lot, clean water, sanitation, electricity, public toilets, a public kitchen, a multipurpose room, a canteen and a kiosk. In addition, each room is also facilitated with adequate beds, toilets, wardrobes, tables and chairs.
