MoSA’s Inspectorate General Presents at the BPKP Expo

JAKARTA (20 June 2023) – The Inspectorate General of the Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) also celebrated the anniversary of the Finance and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP). The involvement of the MoSA’s Inspectorate General is meant to be better known by the public.

At the Internal Supervision Expo at the Agung Sasana Langen Utomo Taman Mini Indonesia Hall, the red booth of MoSA’s Inspectorate General was attended by many visitors. The Inspectorate General chose the theme "Supervision on Beneficiaries by Directly Involving Community Participation to Ensure Assistance is Right on Target".

Visitors were given an understanding of the duties, functions and performance of the MoSA’s Inspectorate General. The Inspectorate General’s officials also introduced a social assistance checking application. Many visitors did not understand the scope of supervision of the MoSA’s Inspectorate General and the Ministry of Social Affairs.

One of the visitors also admitted that she did not know anything about the MoSA’s Inspectorate General. All that she knows from the Ministry of Social Affairs is only social assistance. "So far, I understand that the Ministry of Social Affairs is taking care of social assistance. But I don't understand about the Inspectorate General and what are the duties. I even just found out about this Cekbansos application,” said Yuli, a visitor from Sinjai Regency, South Sulawesi who attended the activity themed "Innovation and Collaboration in Monitoring Adaptation for Sustainable Growth'', Monday (19/1).

Responding to this issue, the Acting Inspector General of the Social Affairs Ministry, Dody Sukmono, said this was a challenge. "This is a challenge for the MoSA’s Inspectorate General to socialize more about the program to the community because this is related to the supervision that we carry out," he said.

In addition, Dody added that MoSA’s Inspectorate General needs community participation in overseeing the supervision of social assistance so that it was right on target. This is because the data of the beneficiaries of social assistance are not completely perfect.

"Our tagline is Fostering Accountability, which means that our supervision can also be controlled by the public. We need community participation, especially for suggestions and rebuttals because social assistance data are not perfect yet. This expo can inspire community participation to use the application or provide input to the Ministry of Social Affairs in terms of distributing social assistance so that it is right on target," said Dody.

This Internal Supervision Expo was held for the first time after the Covid-19 outbreak. This time, the expo was attended by various agencies from central, regional and state-owned enterprises. There were a total of 27 inspectorates from central agencies, 18 regional inspectorates and 11 SOE agencies. It is expected that the agencies can present their works, creativity, contributions and innovations in supervision, learning tools and knowledge sharing about internal supervision, as well as building collaboration and cooperation between Government Internal Supervisory Apparatus/Internal Audit Unit.

This is the first time the MoSA’s Inspectorate General has participated in the Internal Supervision Expo. The Acting Inspector General of the Social Affairs Ministry said that this was a good opportunity to build networks and confidence.

“For us, this expo is something new. This event helps us to build a network with other colleagues in other inspectorates as well. Moreover, we have to be confident. The Ministry of Social Affairs can create something great. The minister's trust and support encouraged us since MoSA has an extraordinary program," said Dody.

According to him, the MoSA’s Inspectorate General must participate in this event because the main tasks and functions of the Ministry of Social Affairs are very closely related to national priority programs. "The national priority program is closely related to the Ministry of Social Affairs' tasks and functions. That's why the supervision of MoSA’s Inspector General cannot be separated from these programs. The public should know about it," he said.
