JAKARTA (2 April 2023) - The inauguration of the "Mulya Jaya" Flats in Jakarta by the Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini some time ago, received appreciation from various parties. Providing decent housing at very affordable costs is a solution for poor and vulnerable groups.

"I appreciate Mrs Tri Rismaharini's programs since they are beneficial for the community," said Member of Commission VIII DPR RI Ina Ammania in Jakarta recently.

Ina also expressed her gratitude for the assistance from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing which has assisted the Ministry of Social Affairs. As a partner of Commission VIII DPR RI, the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing has realized this flat development program. According to Ina, the flats being built are very suitable for vulnerable groups to live in.

"In my opinion, it is very appropriate for underprivileged people," added Ina.

Apart from receiving appreciation from Commission VIII DPR RI, the construction of this flat also received high appreciation from the National Commission on Disabilities (KND). MoSA commits to paying attention to flat infrastructure so that it is friendly for people with disabilities.

"We would like to thank the Ministry of Social Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia which has built the flats. I have seen that this flat has been built with a disability-friendly concept, and also with a universal design," said KND Chairman Dante Rigmalia, who was also present at the inauguration of the flat.

Dante stated that infrastructure such as ramps for wheelchair users, guiding blocks, and also the availability of rooms for persons with disabilities or their families are very helpful for mobilization. In the room area, there are also accessible toilets.

“We do appreciate the efforts of the Ministry of Social Affairs to not leave behind persons with disabilities in the development concept and provide space and facilities for people with disabilities to live in flats too," said Dante.

KND hopes that in the future MoSA can continue to identify and assess the basic needs of people with disabilities, especially those who need decent and disability-friendly housing so that their lives will be much better.

In addition to providing decent and disability-friendly housing, the MoSA also continues to encourage persons with disabilities to be empowered and able to be economically independent. This also received support from KND.

"Here, we also see that the program from the Minister of Social Affairs not only provides flats but also develops the empowerment of friends who live in flats, by providing training. I saw there was sewing, then there was a business place. They were trained to cook so they could sell, so this of course can make the lives of flat residents, including people with disabilities, much better," said Dante.

The "Mulya Jaya" Flats were built on an area of approximately 21,843 m2, with a building area of 8,367 m2. This flat consists of 5 floors with 93 residential units. The structure and equipment inside are designed to be friendly towards vulnerable groups such as the disabled and the elderly.

Various facilities are available in this flat. These include electricity, water, a parking area, a Health Service Unit, a Digital Reading Corner, an ATENSI Creation Center, a multipurpose room, lockers, CCTV Security System, garbage disposal access, safety net, ramps, guiding block, accessible toilets and public toilets, pharmacies, waiting room, and evacuation route. Each room is also equipped with a dining table, wardrobe, bed, gas stove, a 3 kg gas cylinder, and dining sets.

Prospective flat residents are 76 families consisting of 259 people, including eight disabled beneficiaries, five elderly beneficiaries, and 63 beneficiaries from vulnerable groups (people living under bridges or in cardboard houses, homeless people in shop fronts, cart people, riverbanks, slums, domestic violence victims, human trafficking victims, and buskers).

The flat is not only a place to live but also a place to empower its residents according to their abilities.
