Overcoming Drought, MoSA Distributes Clean Water to 34 Locations in Bogor Regency

BOGOR REGENCY (26 October 2023) – The Ministry of Social Affairs (MoSA) provides clean water facilities at 34 points in Bogor Regency. The water processing facility is to overcome the drought that is occurring in the area around Bogor.

"Water is essential, so we have to fulfill the need for water by any means," said Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini when supervising clean water assistance in Buanajaya Village, Bogor Regency on Wednesday (25/10).

Apart from establishing clean water facilities, MoSA will also provide assistance to process the water into ready-to-drink (RTD) water in Buanajaya Village. RTD water enables residents to drink the water without boiling it first. 

Buanajaya Village, which is located in the eastern part of Bogor Regency, has been experiencing drought since August. Buanajaya residents have to take steep and narrow roads to the Cimapag River or nearby springs to get clean water for their daily needs.

Now, residents can take water directly from the 5,500-liter capacity water torrent which is used to collect water from springs near the Cimapag River. This machine, which can flow water at a speed of 1 liter per second, can accommodate 200 families, and even more, because the torrent can be used 24 hours a day.

After the water shortage problem was resolved, Social Minister Risma also appealed to Buanajaya residents not to depend on social assistance. Residents are encouraged to develop empowerment, either through livestock, workshops or other types of business.

“We have to make our lives better. There is no giving up because God helps those who help themselves. When there is a will there's a way," said Risma, encouraging the Buanajaya residents who were present at that time.

The Head of Buanajaya Village, Sudarjat, expressed his gratitude because the Minister had been present among the Buanajaya residents and helped them during this time of drought.

"Thank you because she cares about Buanajaya Village. Social Affairs Minister Risma has set foot in this remote village, which means she is doing real work. She knows we have water problems, and has resolved the problem," said Sudarjat full of gratitude.
