Pancasila Day Moment, Minister Risma Hands Over Fiberglass Boats and Repletes Kids’ Nutrition in Agats

ASMAT (June 1st, 2023) – Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, celebrates Pancasila Day on June 1st together with the residents of Agats District, Asmat Regency, South Papua. Minister Risma hands over social empowerment assistance of 27 fiberglass longboats and also works on fulfilling kids’ nutrition in the area.

The minister interprets the event as “Pancasila in Action”. “Yes, from the very start, I try to celebrate Pancasila Day by interpreting Pancasila in action. We need to interpret not only the unity of Indonesia and social justice. Thus, the Asmat people could understand the significance of Pancasila together with us,” she states.

Minister Risma says that the assistance distribution is aimed to fulfill one Agats people’s primary needs, which is water transportation including boats. Thus, fiberglass boats distributed are expected to support the people’s trading activities.

“We give them boats in order to help them fish or sell the products and also as a means of transportation,” Minister Risma says in Agats Diocese.

“Minister Risma gives Fiberglass longboat assistance, 1.000 pigs, thousands of pairs of clothes, and 100 units of solar street lighting (PJTUS) to the bishop of Agats Diocese, Aloysius Murwito, and Asmat Regent, Elisa Kambu.

The Minister also fulfills kid’s nutritional needs in Agats by distributing eggs harvested from social empowerment of laying hens farm got from Ministry of Social Affairs. Agats Diocese interprets Minister Risma’s vision as “One Egg Movement”.

In addition, Minister Risma also distributes snacks to the children gathered not far from Agats Diocese.

“Agats is very special. The land is not cultivatable. Thus, I think of a way to replete the nutrition needed from laying hens farm. We also give catfish because the water is very muddy in that village,” the minister says.

Minister Risma says that Agats District also has a water sanitation problem. Thus, she also gives brackish water salinity in three locations for drinking. Children also drink salinized water.

Three water salinities are located in Agats Regional Hospital, An-Nur Mosque, and Agats Museum. Risma says the ministry got two requests for another two salinity locations due to the resident’s dependency on rainwater.

According to The Minister, the people of Agats have many activities. Recently, people are eager to sew and manage shrimp ponds.

In the future, Ministry of Social Affairs will make ponds that can be used for prawn production and prawn crackers processing.

Agats Diocese Bishop, Aloysius Murwito, says that Ministry of Social Affairs’ assistances are very meaningful. “Ministry of Social Affairs is quite responsive to our needs. The 27 longboats will be used to transport crops. Nutrition’s fulfilled by giving eggs. This is amazing,” he says.

Aloysius Murwito claims that besides the assistance, the breakthroughs are interesting and stimulate people. Supported by field officers, the people will be motivated.

The assistance from Ministry of Social Affairs given to beneficiaries with the help of Agats Diocese are 27 fiberglass long boats, stimulant assistance of a pair of pigs farming empowerment for 500 beneficiaries, infrastructure such as Solar Street Lighting (PJTUS), fiberglass boat workshop, and daily clothing for 500 beneficiaries.
