LUMAJANG (December 11, 2021) - The eruption of Mount Semeru in Lumajang Regency on Saturday (4/12) has left its own sorrow for residents who live at the foot of the mountain. The family member must accept the reality of being homeless. Responding to this incident, the Ministry of Social Affairs, which has duties and functions in the evacuee cluster and social protection in disaster management, immediately built evacuation posts, including efforts to fulfill the basic needs of evacuees.
Not only that, the Ministry of Social Affairs with its social pillars, such as Disaster Preparedness Cadets (Tagana) and Pioneers of Peace (Pordam) are involved in handling this disaster. In addition to participating in the search and evacuation of victims, Tagana also played a full role in the field public kitchen to provide food for the evacuees. Meanwhile, Pordam plays a role in trauma healing evacuees, especially children through Psychosocial Support Services (LDP). These social pillars will continue to provide assistance to the evacuees until the post-disaster period is over.
