JAKARTA (December 3, 2024) - The peak of the 2024 International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) commemoration at Taman Ismail Marzuki, Jakarta, was attended by Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf and Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Both emphasized the government's commitment to supporting persons with disabilities to receive equal opportunities in various fields.
Gus Mensos said that the government has ratified the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and implemented it through Law Number 8 of 2016, which guarantees the rights to education, employment, and opportunities to work without discrimination. He also emphasized the "Equal Work" theme that persons with disabilities have the right to contribute to national development.
Vice President Gibran added the importance of collaboration between the government, private sector, and society to expand accessibility and create opportunities for persons with disabilities in education, health, employment, and infrastructure. The 2024 HDI activities include health services, exhibitions of works by persons with disabilities, talk shows, and breaking MURI records related to persons with disabilities empowerment.
The Ministry of Social Affairs will continue strengthening synergies to provide more opportunities for persons with disabilities to work.
