President Jokowi Confers the Title of National Heroes to Five National Figures

JAKARTA (7 November 2022) - President Joko Widodo conferred the title of National Hero to five figures from various regions who had contributed to the nation at the State Palace, Jakarta, Monday (7/10).

"Today the government confers the title of national hero to figures who have made great contributions to the nation," said the President.

Attending the event were Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud Md, Minister of Defense Prabowo Subianto, Minister of State Secretariat Pratikno, Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, and Minister of Religious Affairs Yaqut Cholil Qoumas.

The title of national hero was conferred based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia Number 96/TK/ the Year 2022 on November 3, 2022. The five figures who were named the title of the national hero were:

1. The late Dr. dr. H. R. Suharto of Central Java;

2. The late KGPAA Paku Alam VIII of the Special Region of Yogyakarta;

3. The late dr. R. Rubini Natawisastra of West Kalimantan;

4. The late H. Salahuddin bin Talabuddin of North Maluku, and

5. The late K. H. Ahmad Sanusi of West Java.

The heirs of those prominent figures attended the ceremony to receive the titles and awards. At the end of the event, President Joko Widodo and the distinguished guests gave congratulatory messages to the heirs who received the title of national hero.

The conferring of the National Hero Title is one of the series of National Heroes' Day in 2022 with the theme "My Hero, My Role Model". The series of National Heroes' Day 2022 is organized by the Indonesian government through the Ministry of Social Affairs

The next series of events will be the National Pilgrimage on 10 November 2022 at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery and the Flower Sowing Ceremony at sea from KRI Semarang of Tanjung Priok Military Sealift Command on 10 November 2022 at 7 a.m.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Social Affairs will also hold a Strengthening of Heroic Values ​​with the Minister of Social Affairs to 68 students and 34 teachers (34 provinces) as well as 200 students of Jakarta on 10-12 November 2022. The following agenda will be a workshop attended by the Minister of Social Affairs and heroes' families at the Kalibata Heroes Cemetery Convention Building on November 10, 2022.
