Quick Response to Earthquake, Ministry of Social Affairs Sends Logistics to Central Mamberamo
CENTRAL MAMBERAMO (September 10th, 2022) - Ministry of Social Affairs is preparing assistance and coordinating with related parties in Central Memberamo District, Papua Province. This is in accordance with the direction of the Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, to immediately respond and help the affected community.
The Directorate of Social Protection for Natural Disaster Victims, together with Social Welfare Education and Training Center (BBPPKS) in Jayapura, immediately coordinated with religious leaders or Pastor Lipus Biniluk, the Police, Disaster Voluntary Worker (Tagana) and the local government for the delivery of logistical assistance as soon as possible.
The Ministry of Social Affairs sent the disaster logistics from Social Welfare Training Center in Jayapura. "This afternoon at 15.00, logistical assistance has been sent by the team using the SAM Air Caravan aircraft," said Head of Social Welfare Education and Training Center in Jayapura Malik at Sentani Airport Jayapura (10/09/2022).
Assistance in the form of 1480 packages of fast food and 320 packages of kids food. "Logistics are transported according to the maximum carrying capacity of the aircraft," he said.
After coordinating with some related parties, the situation in Central Memberamo is safe and under control after the 5.9 SR earthquake at 06.31 WIB. People are returning to their normal activities as usual.
"However, to anticipate readiness and unknown conditions in the interior, we will send some assistance this afternoon," he said.
This afternoon, the relief goods were received by the people of Kobagma, a district located in the highlands of Central Mamberamo Regency.
"The goods were immediately brought to the GIDI Church (Evangelical Church in Indonesia) Komagma. And it has been recorded in the official report at the delivery location," said Malik.
The people of Central Mamberamo (Mamteng) express their appreciation and gratitude. "The people of Mamteng thank the Minister. The assistance has been well received," said Gidi's Pastor, Daniel Pagawak.
The next stage, the Ministry of Social Affairs will send assistance in the form of rice and tubers which is one of the basic foods of the local community.
Communication and monitoring continue to be carried out with relevant agencies in the surrounding area, including Mamberamo Raya. "We are still communicating with Mamberamo Raya regarding the post-earthquake conditions for similar follow-ups," she said.
Previously, it was known from a report from the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) that an earthquake of magnitude (M) 5.9 happened in Central Mamberamo, Papua. The earthquake has no potential for tsunami.
The earthquake was at a depth of 106 km with coordinates: 2.02 latitude-138.32 east longitude.
