Realizing an Independence Value for Disability Persons, MoSA Provides Adaptive Wheelchair for Cerebral Palsy Survivor

Mataram (21 August 2023) - The spirit of independence celebration is still felt in several regions, even though the moment of Independence Day has passed on August 17. This can be seen from the UPT of the Ministry of Social Affairs, namely "Paramita" Center in Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
The celebration of the moment of Independence Day by Paramita Center is not just releasing euphoria. The commemoration was carried out with meaningful activities for people with disabilities. On that occasion, Paramita Center gave an adaptive wheelchair for Cerebral Palsy survivor from West Lombok, Muhammad Alwi Sihab (18).
Alwi's name came from a suggestion by Member of House of Representatives Commission VIII Nanang Samodra. "Alwi is still young, he still has a long way to go. I see that he is still enthusiastic to live, despite the conditions that he is currently experiencing. So, we gave him this assistive device to help him do his daily activities," said Head of the "Paramita" Center in Mataram Lia Latifah Ningrum, Sunday (20/8).
Lia stated that the distribution of wheelchairs is a form of independence for everyone, including people with disabilities. The center hopes that the adaptive wheelchair can at least be used to support Alwi's daily activities, who depends on his grandmother, Minari (63).
The distribution of adaptive wheelchair was conducted along with morning gymnastic in celebrating Independence Day at Gelanggang Pemuda dan Olahraga that held by Indonesian Retiree Association NTB, Sunday Morning (20/8).
On his outdated wheelchair, Alwi, who present with his grandmother Minari to receive the aid, tried to express his pleasure to MoSA.
“Thanks Mom, he said. I really happy to have this new wheelchair,” said Alwi through his expression that translated by his grandmother. Before, Alwi has wheelchair, however his wheelchair is not worth to use anymore.
Meanwhile, NTB Governor Zulkieflimansyah, who participated in doing gymnastic sport and aid distribution, expressed his gratitude for the MoSA’s concern for the community in the place that he leads.
“Thank you for the ATENSI from MoSA for our people in need in NTB. It hopes that it can be a field of rewards,” said Zul.
As for celebrating Independence Day, Paramita Center also held a various type of competition since 14 to 16 August 2023, and also flag ceremony that involving all beneficiaries as the ceremony officer in the peak of Independence Daya 17 August 2023.
