Receiving RST Assistance, Ni Wayan Darti is Eager to pick up Sustenance

On the sewing machine, a pile of fabric pieces are ready to be transformed by Darti's skillful hands. She looked happy. On the terrace, a new sewing machine donated by the Ministry of Social Affairs was waiting for her, replacing her old sewing machine that was worn out. Now, she can work faster than usual.

"I'm happy that someone is helping me. Hopefully it can help to improve the economy for school fees. The previous machine I bought from someone and could only sew 25 shirts per day because the machine was a bit slow," said Darti.

Since her husband gone forever, Darti did not immediately let go of the responsibility of taking care of her two sons and her elderly mother-in-law. Darti relies on convection collectors to fulfill her household needs.

Unfortunately, the services of the resident of Banjar Kapit, Nyaliyan Village, Banjarangkan District, Klungkung Regency are only valued at Rp2,000 per shirt. In a maximum of one day, Darti earns Rp50,000. This amount, whether like it or not, is enough for her children's school and basic needs.

Her patience was rewarded. At the direction of Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini, the Ministry of Social Affairs distributed assistance for Integrated Welfare Houes (RST) and Indonesia Economic Heroes (PENA). In Klungkung Regency, there are 29 residents who received RST and PENA. Darti is one of them.

For RST, the Ministry of Social Affairs provided assistance of IDR 20 million. The house that will be fully owned by Darti is currently under construction. In the future, she will no longer be exposed to the rain and will be more comfortable sewing.

From PENA, Darti received assistance in the form of an electric sewing machine, the cost of adding power, a sewing machine chair, a set of sewing equipment, and 1 roll of sewing thread. Darti is also listed as a beneficiary of the Family Hope Program (PKH) and the Basic Food Program/BPNT.

The various assistance has boosted Darti's spirit. "I have a desire to learn to cut my own cloth so that I’m no longer depend on collectors. Hopefully, with this assistance, the production of stitches will increase and the capital to open my own convection business will be collected quickly," said Darti.
