Recovering from Intestinal Disorders, Zoya Gets Present from Minister Risma

JAKARTA (12 January 2024) – At just 8 months old, Zoya Khamila Hanum (3) faced the challenge of imperforate anus, a condition that caused abnormalities in her anus. As a result, she had to rely on a stoma bag for her bowel movements.

In 2022, Ministry of Social Affairs’ technical unit, Handayani Centre, supported Zoya's medical treatment, enabling her to grow and thrive without the need for a stoma bag in her stomach.

Zoya's medical journey was closely followed by Tri Rismaharini, Minister of Social Affairs. On multiple occasions, Minister Risma expressed her desire to meet with Zoya but unfortunately had to cancel due to her hectic schedule. At long last, the meeting took place yesterday at the Mulya Jaya Centre in Jakarta on Thursday (11/1).

Minister Risma generously gifted Zoya with a delightful pink three-wheeled bike and a plethora of toys. She instantly fell in love with the bike and unicorn doll.

“The minister had wanted to meet twice. But now we can finally meet in person. Alhamdulillah, in her 2 years old, Zoya already met Minister,” said Zubirman (55), Zoya’s father, with his typical Minang accent.

Zoya hails from West Sumatera, specifically Jorong IV in Nagari Geragahan, located in the picturesque District of Lubuk Basung, within the Agam regency. Her father is working as a farmer, while her mother manages the household and also sells snacks.

Unfortunately, Zoya's parents' income was not enough to cover her medical expenses. Furthermore, Zoya had to travel a considerable distance of nearly 100 km to seek medical treatment in Padang, which was quite inconvenient for her.

MoSA partnered with Kitabisa.com to offer operational expenses for the hospital, while BPJS took care of medical costs. In addition, MoSA also offered support to her parents by assisting their small business.

Zoya's father expressed deep gratitude for the help provided by MoSA. Wali Jorong, Dedi Lita Alam Sari shared his thoughts on the matter, as he was present when Zoya and her father met with Minister Risma.

"I appreciate Minister Risma's dedication in looking after Zoya from the beginning until now," he expressed his gratitude.

Zoya was fortunate to receive ATENSI assistance for IDR 19.4 million. The assistance covered a range of important areas including nutrition, personal hygiene, medicine, operational support, transportation, bicycles, educational games tools (APE), and even entrepreneurial assistance for her parents. Donations collected for Zoya through Kitabisa.com reached a total of IDR 170.8 million.

Following three surgeries at M Jamil Hospital Padang, Zoya's condition has significantly improved, allowing her to have normal bowel movements without the need for a stoma bag.
