Reinforcing the Cyber Incident’s Response, MoSA Becomes a Part of CSIRT

DEPOK (August 1st, 2023) - Ministry of Social Affairs officially becomes a part of Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT) that reinforces the efforts in responding to cyber incidents.

According to Joko Widodo, the President of Republic of Indonesia mandated in the opening speech of the third session of the 2022 G20 Presidency, three things become the focus on promoting digital transformation to accelerate global recovery. They are digital access, digital literacy, and a safe digital environment.

In his speech on the CSIRT’s Launch in National Cyber and Crypto Agency’s (BSSN) hall on Tuesday, August 1st, The Head of National Cyber and Crypto Agency Hinsa Siburian said that BSSN is responsible for being aware of cyber threats and carrying out their duty in the field of cyber security. CSIRT is formed to handle cyber incidents within the specified scope.

CISRT has some functions, such as providing reactive service including incident coordination, incident triage, and incident resolution. CSIRT provides proactive service by publishing vulnerability, security information, technology trend, and information security audit. Besides, CISRT also provides security quality improvement services consisting of consultation, cyber drills, training, and workshop.

Ministry of Social Affairs supports the establishment of a CSIRT team in each Ministry/Institution, as an effort to maintain cyber security. “Ministry of Social Affairs supports the establishment of Ministry of Social Affairs’ CSIRT because this is one of the efforts that we have made in maintaining the security of cyberspace,” the Head of Data and Information Center of Ministry of Social Affairs, Agus Zainal Arifin said in Jakarta on August 1st.

“We feel grateful towards National Cyber and Crypto Agency which has supported us, particularly in providing services for Ministry of Social Affairs’ cyber security. We hope that the good relationship will continue for maintaining cyber resilience in Indonesia,” Agus continued.

According to its duty and responsibility, Ministry of Social Affairs CSIRT team plays a role in responding to cyber security incidents quickly and coordinated.

The representatives of 17 Ministries/Institutions which officially become a part of CSIRT are also present at the launching of CSIRT.  The Ministries/Institutions are Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture, Coordinating Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Investment, Ministry of Social Affairs, Ministry of State Apparatus Empowerment and Bureaucratic Reforms, Cabinet Secretariate, Ministry of Villages, Development of Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration, Ministry of Sports and Youth, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Indonesian Maritime Security Agency, Investment Coordinating Board, The National Archive of the Republic of Indonesia, National Board for Disaster Management, Pancasila Ideology Development Agency, National Counter Terrorism Agency, National Family Planning Coordinating Board, Ministry of Industry, and Public Broadcasting Institution Radio of the Republic of Indonesia.
