ACEH TENGGARA (November 8, 2022) - The Ministry of Social Affairs ensures that the logistical needs of flash flood survivors in Southeast Aceh Regency (Agara) are fulfilled. Through the Disaster Voluntary Worker (Tagana), MoSA has been present since the disaster occurred and helped the needs of disaster survivors.

In accordance with its duties and functions, Tagana established a public kitchen at the Baiturrahim Mosque evacuation post, Rambung Jaya Village. Here, the public kitchen is able to provide up to 3,000 meals per day.

"Earlier, you have seen, this is the food supply for the evacuees for today only. We have been helping since last Thursday. We don't know how long this kitchen will last. It will be according to the Regent's request," said Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini, when visiting the flash flood-affected location in Rambung Teldak Village, Darul Hasanah District, Southeast Aceh Regency, Tuesday (8/11).

Accompanied by Acting Southeast Aceh Regent Syakir, the Minister greeted Tagana personnel who were cooking fast food for the evening meals. The public kitchen, said the Minister, is managed by Tagana personnel systemically and automatically.

"They are volunteers, they are not the Regent's apparatus, not my apparatus. They are volunteers and are everywhere. When disaster happened, they must be present by themselves, they come because of their heart's call, their willingness," said the Minister.

Meanwhile, the Tagana Public Kitchen Coordinator in Rambung Jaya, Jamilun, said that his party, along with 30 Tagana Agara personnel, had been struggling to meet the food needs at the location for the past week.

"We have been here since Thursday (11/3). Two days after the incident, we immediately went down. Our role is to serve the needs of the residents, such as setting up tents, including their food. This is the sixth day, it's been a week," said the man in brown uniform.

From the public kitchen, Tagana is able to provide up to 3,000 meals per day. "We can produce as many as 1,000 packets at a time. That's multiplied by three, for morning, afternoon, and evening. So, a total of 3,000 packages per day, for the next 14 days," said Jamil.

Besides Tagana public kitchen, MoSA has also distributed assistance in two stages. The first phase, distributed through the "Insyaf" Center in Medan, included 100 sheets of mattresses, 100 sheets of blankets, 100 packages of Family Kit, 50 packages of baby diapers, 100 packages of adult clothing, and 100 packages of sanitary napkins, with a value of Rp119,425,300.

Meanwhile, the second phase of assistance was again distributed through the "Insyaf" Center in Medan to the Agara Regency Social Service, last Sunday (5/11), including 150 sheets of mattresses, 300 sheets of blankets, 200 packages of family kits, 300 packages of baby clothes, 300 packages of adult clothes, 200 packages of sanitary napkins, 400 sheets of mattresses, and 60 packages of food ware, with a value of Rp305,600,250.

Not to mention, dozens of houses were badly damaged and slightly damaged.

For this reason, on behalf of his citizens, he expressed his gratitude for the willingness of Social Minister Risma to visit his area after being hit by flash floods and bring assistance to his citizens.

"We thank you very much, the Minister of Social Affairs for visiting Southeast Aceh, seeing our condition here in Rambung Teldak Village, bringing assistance to us," he said.

As is known, flash floods hit Agara due to high rain intensity which caused overflowing of Kali Alas River, Lawe Kinga River and Muara Baru River, on Tuesday morning (1/11).

The overflowing water damaged river embankments in six sub-districts in Agara, namely Babussalam, Babul Rahmah, Bambel, Lawe Alas, Lawe Sigala-gala and Darul Hasanah, and damaged the oprit bridge connecting Darul Hasanah and Badar sub-districts.

As a result of the flash floods in Darul Hasanah Sub-district, 466 families were affected and 80 houses in 5 villages were damaged, with 17 units severely damaged, 29 units moderately damaged and 34 units lightly damaged.

The impact of the damaged houses also made at least 183 families to be in the disaster shelter at Baiturrahim Mosque in Rambung Jaya Village and 137 other families moved independently in their closest family homes.
