JAKARTA (1 November 2022) — Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini was present at the Al Hidayah Mosque in Kalibaru Cilincing on Tuesday (1/11). The presence of the Minister was to fulfil the invitation for Social Service organized by the Indonesian Farmers and Fisherman Movement (GANTI).

In front of the invitees, the Minister invited the community whom majority worked as fishermen to have a discussion about overcoming existing problems.

"I just want to ask what kind of needs you have to fullfil. Later we will discuss which part is mine (the Ministry of Social Affairs’ responsibility), which is part of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (MMAF)," said the Minister.

The main problems encountered by fishermen are the lack of clean water and high fuel prices. For this reason, the Minister of Social Affairs said that she would facilitate fishermen to get subsidized fuel specifically for fishermen and would distribute tools that can distil seawater into clean water that can be used for daily life.

Previously, the Ministry of Social Affairs carried out a distillation program that turned cloudy water into clean and ready-to-drink water in several sub-districts in Serang Regency, Banten and several other areas. According to Risma, this success can also be applied to the fishermen's residential area in Cilincing.

On the same occasion, the General Chairperson of GANTI, Rokhmin Dahuri, appreciated the presence of the Minister of Social Affairs in Cilincing. "We thank the Minister for being present among us fishermen in Kalibaru, North Jakarta," he said while giving his speech.

The former Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries under President Megawati revealed the readiness of GANTI as a fishermen's organization to cooperate with the government in efforts to improve the welfare of fishermen.

Meanwhile, at the end of the activity in Cilincing, the Minister distributed 50 food packages to the fishermen who were present.

Also present at this activity were the Director General of Capture Fisheries of the MMAF Muhammad Zaini, Head of the Naval Maritime Potential Service, Admiral dr. Suradi, Head of GANTI DKI Jakarta Region Addis Abeba MR, and elements of District Leadership Groups of Cilincing.
