JAKARTA (February 16, 2023) - Government policies to improve people's welfare are the implementation of Pancasila values. Efforts to increase the income and dignity of the poor and marginalized groups are the spirit of upholding justice in line with Pancasila values.

Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini stated that the policies and programs of the Ministry of Social Affairs, such as the construction of Integrated Welfare Houses (RST) are carried out in a mutual cooperation manner.

"I try to translate Pancasila in every step we take," said Social Minister Risma who was present at the Kick off Meeting of Pancasila in Action "Universal Movement to Prevent Stunting, Sexual Violence against Children and Women, Domestic Violence, and Anticipate Disasters", Thursday (16/2).

In addition to build togetherness and helping each other, gotong royong (mutual cooperation) activities can also save a very large budget, especially in handling disasters in Majene, West Sulawesi Province. The Minister revealed that mutual cooperation saves the school construction budget.

The Minister also said that raising a person's degree is in accordance with Pancasila values on fair and civilized humanity.

As the Ministry of Social Affairs has done to one of the beneficiaries, who was previously a scavenger. Currently, he has succeeded as an employee at one of the building contractor companies. Then, the Ministry of Social Affairs also helped Gading, a disability person, who has now managed to get out of poverty through the assistance provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs.

In instilling the values of the second and fifth precepts, namely elevating human dignity, and realizing common welfare with social justice, the Ministry of Social Affairs has built flats for scavengers, homeless people and beggars in eleven cities so that they can live in a more decent place, and improve their standard of living.

The Ministry of Social Affairs also continues to strive for social assistance to be distributed to remote areas such as in Erosaman Village in Papua and Suku Anak Dalam in Jambi. This is in line with the cultivation of Pancasila values in the third principle, which recognizes equality of status, equal rights and human obligations, without discriminating against ethnicity, descent, religion, belief, gender, social position, skin colour, and so on.

"When I met Suku Anak Dalam, I had to travel from Jambi for 9 hours to meet the children in the forest. These children used to have long hair, long nails, then we taught them to bathe, we cut their nails, we taught them to go to school," said the Minister.

Various assistance is a form of the Minister of Social Affairs' efforts in applying the values of Pancasila through the work program implemented so that people in poverty can be immediately empowered and independent in meeting their needs.

"I think that is our part in translating Pancasila in our actions, social justice for all Indonesian people," she said.

The Pancasila in Action Kick off Meeting "Universal Movement to Prevent Stunting, Sexual Violence against Children and Women, Domestic Violence, and Anticipate Disasters" is the actualization of Pancasila values in collaboration between Ministries/Institutions and local governments in preventing stunting, sexual violence against children and women, domestic violence, and anticipating disasters.
