Social Affairs Minister Tri Rismaharini Responds Quickly to Citizen Difficulties
BANDUNG (22 September 2023) - Jotua Sinurat (51) cried tears of joy when Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini visited his rented home in Arcamanik, Bandung on Wednesday (20/9).
Upon learning about Jotua's viral story of intending to sell his bicycle for IDR 200,000 to cover his child's school expenses, the Minister did not stand idly by. The Minister provided various aids for Jotua and his child through the Wyata Guna Center in Bandung.
Jotua was overjoyed to receive the aids, which included necessities (groceries, child nutrition, a school bag, and stationery), support for his roving toy store, kitchen utensils, a study table, mats, pillows, beddings, a foam mattress, and a fan. Jotua also received IDR 5,000,000 in cash support, as well as payment of his child's school expenses. His electricity token was also topped up.
Not content with that, the Minister assisted Jotua in registering his electronic identity card (e-KTP). It is hoped that after obtaining the e-KTP, Jotua can be quickly registered and eligible for government assistance.
"Once there is identity, it will be much easier to access government assistance," the Minister explained.
During their conversation, the Minister allowed Jotua to stay at the Wyata Guna Center on Padjajaran Street in Bandung for therapy.
"There will be therapists available while you receive medical treatment later on. Don’t you want that?" asked the Minister to Jotua.
Jotua, whose health had deteriorated following a stroke, eagerly accepted the offer. He expressed disbelief at being met in person by the Minister and was happy to receive so much assistance.
“I am thrilled to receive this help. Now I'm given a place to stay on Padjajaran Street. I no longer have to pay IDR 650,000 per month," claimed the man who earns his living as a roving toy vendor.
