JAKARTA (November 1, 2024) - Social Affairs Vice Minister, Agus Jabo Priyono, personally visited the homes of elderly and disabled beneficiaries in Bambu Apus Village, Cipayung District, East Jakarta. His visit was intended to have a personal understanding of people's concerns and ensure that Ministry of Social Affairs’ (MoSA) programs are running effectively.

"On behalf of the Social Affairs Minister, I am here to carry out the President's directive: to build a nation from the ground up, from the outermost, and to support the disadvantaged communities," he said on Friday (11/1/2024).

During his visit, the Vice Minister assisted Irfan Fahrudin (40), an individual with intellectual disabilities who received a Meal Program for Persons with Disability Living Alone. In addition to food aid, Irfan also received housing repair assistance, a bedroom setup with a mattress and wardrobe, a dish rack, nutritional support, clothing, and personal hygiene supplies. Irfan’s mother also received support for a mobile ice-selling business from MoSA.

The Vice Minister also visited Ar Djamaludin (77), an elderly recipient of the Meal Program for Elderly Living Alone. This formerly religious teacher received nutritional support, personal hygiene items, clothing, and bedroom facilities.

Additionally, the Vice Minister visited Sahrul Hasibuan (16), a beneficiary of the Orphan Assistance Program (YAPI), whose mother passed away due to COVID-19 in 2021. The YAPI assistance provides IDR 200,000 per month to support children’s needs until they turn 18. Besides YAPI aid, Sahrul also received school supplies and nutritional support.

According to the Vice Minister, social assistance programs aim to improve people's welfare. As a result, the distribution of social aid must be accurate to ensure that beneficiaries truly feel the benefits.

"The goal is to bring smiles to those who are not yet living a decent, normal life. To make them happy because the government is attentive to their daily needs," he added.
