Social Counselors Play an Important Role in Public Education to Prevent Hoaxes
KARO (June 26,
2021) - Member of
Commission VIII DPR RI Rudi Hartono Bangun appreciates various Ministry of
Social Affairs programs such as social counseling and Social Rehabilitation
Assistance (Atensi). Commission VIII continues to support the policies of the
Minister of Social Affairs, Tri Rismaharini, especially in increasing the
independence of the beneficiary groups.
In the digital
era, people receive a lot of information, but not all of it can be justified.
"Social counseling can provide education to the public to use information
wisely so they don't get caught up in hoaxes," said Rudi recently.
He emphasized that
the rapid flow of digital-based information has also become a medium for the
development of radical ideas that endanger the foundations of the life of the
nation and state. Rudi believes that social counselors can play an active role
in protecting the public from misleading information.
"I believe MoSA
through social counselors can educate the public to obtain appropriate and
useful information, so that they not only understand but can also be actively
involved in supporting government programs, including stunting management,
which is our collective focus," he said.
Rudi was present
at the Working Visit of Commission VIII DPR RI in the context of a Focus Group
Discussion (FGD) with the theme Prevention of the Risks and Impacts of Stunting
for Children for Family Welfare in Karo, North Sumatra.
Rudi also appreciated
the Atensi program, in particular, which provided economic strengthening for
persons with disabilities. Rudi praised Minister Risma's steps in encouraging
innovation in strengthening the independence of persons with disabilities.
For example, by
giving a tricycle motorbike to a person with a disability instead of an onthel
bicycle. "That way he can move more agile and reach a wider range of
buyers," he said.
"Atensi from MoSA
has increased the productivity of beneficiaries," he said. Commission VIII
is ready and will continue to support the program for strengthening and
independence of persons with disabilities from MoSA.
Secretary of the
Social Office of North Sumatra Province, Ardo Mulia Sitompul, expressed his
gratitude to MoSA and Commission VIII of the DPR. Various programs from MoSA
have a positive and real impact on the people of North Sumatra.
