Social Minister: Police is the Front Guard of the Social Aid Distribution

DEPOK (July 28, 2020) - Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P. Batubara has distributed social assistance for the President's staple foods through Brimob through the Head of the Center for the Families of the Children of the Police of the Republic of Indonesia (KBPP POLRI). The aid was handed over at the Kelapa Dua Mobile Brigade Command Office, Depok, Tuesday.

The Minister of Social Affairs said that the National Police had played an important role both in the successful distribution of social assistance for handling COVID-19 and the implementation of other Ministry of Social programs.


"The President's basic food package assistance is addressed to the extended family of retired Polri as a form of gratitude to POLRI for being one of the front lines to ensure that the distribution of assistance for handling COVID-19 in the field runs smoothly." said the Minister of Social Affairs who is familiarly called Ari.


Not only ensuring that the community gets protection and a sense of security, continued the Minister of Social Affairs, but the POLRI has also struggled to secure the distribution of other Ministry of Social assistance.


Minister of Social Affairs Ari gave an example, in the process of distributing basic food and cash social assistance (BST) in remote areas, the police is always on standby to secure conditions and assist until the aid reaches the beneficiaries.


"Without police support, the distribution of social assistance in the field will be chaotic. Therefore, we are obliged to provide assistance to large families of POLRI who are in need due to the impact of COVID-19, such as today's Food Packages. We also ask POLRI to continue to assist the distribution process of aid in field to be safe and orderly, "he said.


As for the Presidential Staple Food assistance that was distributed through the Indonesian Police Embassy in the amount of 2,000 packages


"However, if needed to be added, we are ready to add. The hope is that people affected by COVID-19 feel the presence of the state to help ease their burden," said the Minister of Social Affairs.


Meanwhile, Chairman of the KBPP POLRI, Bimo Suryono, said that the President's basic food packages will be distributed to retired officers in need, mosque and church administrators, casual daily workers, local communities, and others affected by COVID-19.


"This is Mr. President's concern for all of us, especially those affected by COVID-19 through the Ministry of Social Affairs. We are Brimob members who is also temporary members, independent, some even have their wives left by their husbands," said Bimo.


On the same occasion, the Brimob Corps Commander Inspector General Pol. Anang Revandoko also expressed his gratitude for the social assistance provided by the Ministry of Social Affairs for the big family of POLRI, especially those affected by COVID-19.


The event was closed with the release of the car that distributed the President's basic needs assistance by the Minister of Social Affairs as a sign that the assistance had begun to be distributed by the Indonesian Police KBPP.


Also attending were the Director General of Social Protection and Security, Pepen Nazaruddin; Inspector General of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Dadang Iskandar; Special Staff to the Minister of Social Affairs, Joko Sambodo; Special Staff of the Minister of Social Affairs for Inter-Institutional Relations, Erwin Tobing; Commander of the Indonesian National Police Corps; Deputy Commander of the Police Mobile Brigade Corps.
