Social Minister Prepares Social Assistance for Film & Theater Workers
JAKARTA (5 June 2020) - Minister of Social Affairs Juliari P. Batubara listens patiently all the artists who are members of the C'nior community representing film and theater actors affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. The senior artists explained how the COVID-19 pandemic had left them and the art workers down.
They stated, the COVID-19 pandemic, made film workers and artists lose their jobs. For this reason, assistance from the state, in this case the Ministry of Social Affairs, is highly expected.
"We are ready to help whoever in needs including from artists and film workers. But we also request assistance from senior artists to help meet applicable provision, "Said Juliari.
In addition, Social Minister reminded that the submission of social assistance recipients can comply with applicable regulations. Among other things, social assistance recipients must meet the provisions by name by address (BNBA) and have a National Identity Number (NIK).
"Because this social assistance uses state funds, it will be verified later. Therefore, the recipient data submitted by the artists will be cleansed first, "said the Minister.
The artists conveyed there are 2,156 recipients of social assistance. In this virtual dialogue, they generally reveal how the economic pressures must be faced by artists, film workers, theater, traditional artists, and so on.
"They have not worked for 3-4 months. I myself sit on the House of Representatives Commission X which is in charge of arts and culture. I know exactly how their lives were very difficult during the pandemic. With the help that the Ministry of Social Affairs will provide, we thank you. This means that the government is present in the middle of a pandemic, "said Doel.
The Minister stated, the Ministry of Social Affairs would be flexible in responding the requests from activists. "If there is still something that needs to be added please go ahead. What's important is that. Please complete the data with the required documents, "said the Minister.
